Top NHL Playoffs Prop Bet Odds & Picks for Friday, May 27 (2022)

Game 6 of the second round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche is set to get underway tonight. Despite only one game tonight, there are still a couple of great angles to attack in the prop betting market.

Below, I give out my two best NHL player prop bets for Friday.

As a reminder, I am playing all player props for a half-unit each during the playoffs, or 0.5% of your betting bankroll. Follow me on Twitter to get all of my plays on days without full write-ups.

Pavel Buchnevich Over 0.5 Assists (+135)

The St. Louis Blues return home following Wednesday’s improbable 5-4 overtime victory. Trailing 3-0 over halfway through the second period, Pavel Buchnevich and the rest of the Blues’ offense woke up and forced overtime before Tyler Bozak netted the game-winner.

We successfully hit this prop in that game as Buchnevich recorded two assists, and I am going back to the well in Game 6. Buchnevich has now recorded at least one assist in four straight games.

This trend is nothing new for Buchnevich, as he has registered 10 assists over 11 games in this postseason. Avalanche goaltender Darcy Kuemper had yet another poor outing in Game 5 as he allowed five goals on 30 shots for a 0.833 save percentage.

His metrics back up this poor play as he posted -2.47 goals saved above expected (GSAx). Kuemper could be a good fade candidate moving forward as he has allowed eight goals on 50 shots for a 0.840 save percentage over the last two games.

Cale Makar Over 0.5 Assists (-135)

While Kuemper has struggled for Colorado, Blues goaltender Ville Husso has been just as bad. Husso has now allowed four or more goals in five straight playoff games, posting a mere 0.855 save percentage over that stretch.

Meanwhile, Colorado defenseman Cale Makar has finally picked It up over the last few games after a slow start to the series. Makar has now registered an assist in three straight games and should be a good candidate to do so once again in Game 6.

This line is too short due to the slow start he had in this series. Over nine games in this postseason, Makar has racked up three goals and 10 assists.

Best of luck!
