Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans is still looking for its first win in Vegas. They got to open the event against Minnesota but fell to the Timberwolves 98-91. But they were not as competitive in their second matchup, a 94-81 loss to the Lakers. Portland, on the other hand, had a great start, beating the Golden State Warriors 106-73 in their Vegas opener. But they came back down to Earth against Memphis in their second game, losing 96-86.
New Orleans hasn't shown much consistency on offense, with six players scoring double digits vs. Minnesota, but then only three did so against the Lakers. Antonio Reevers had 20 against Minnesota but followed that with nine against the Lakers. As for Portland, the dominant win over the Warriors in the opener may be as much a product of facing a bad Golden State team as solid play on the Trail Blazers’ part.
The version of the Trail Blazers we saw against Memphis is probably what we'll see in this game. New Orleans has been playing well, just not well enough. However, I think they can take a step forward against Portland and secure a win.
