Here are todayâs best bets.
NBA Picks
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Brooklyn Nets
The Minnesota Timberwolves have lost three straight games. At 39-40 on the season, Minnesota probably canât afford any more losses.
Theyâll head out on the road to take on a Brooklyn Nets team that has won four of their last five games. The offense is clicking, scoring at least 123 in three of their previous four wins.
The Nets have shot an effective field goal percentage of 56.8%. Thatâs 5th best in the league. Brooklyn typically wonât dominate the offensive glass, but itâll be hard to get stops if the Nets continue to get good looks from the floor. The Nets should see the foul line at a higher rate, knowing Minnesotaâs free throw rate is 22.8.
Plus, the Timberwolves could be without Karl-Anthony Towns tonight. Heâs questionable with a calf injury but also has an illness. Iâll back the Nets at home.
Bet: Nets -1 (-110)

MLB Best Bets
Philadelphia Phillies (+135) vs. New York Yankees (-155) | O/U 8.5 (-115/-105)
The Phillies are having a rough start to the season and are the first team since 1984 to lose their first four games of the season following a World Series appearance. Matt Strahm will take the mound and has one relief appearance this year, pitching a scoreless inning. Playing for the Red Sox last year, he saw a lot of the Yankees and allowed just one run in eight innings,
The Yankees continue to hit with power, and their seven home runs tied for the most this year. You could argue that the pitching has been the catalyst, as they currently lead the league in strikeouts per nine and a 2.33 ERA. Domingo German will go for the Yanks, and he spent most of last year injured, but for most of the season, was inconsistent as he moved from the rotation to the bullpen.
This pitching matchup gives the Phillies a great shot to win, but with their relief pitching not doing well to start the season, I like the over to hit again in this series.
Pick: Over 8.5 (-115)

NHL Best Bets
Vegas Golden Knights (-125) vs. Nashville Predators (+105) | O/U 6.0 (-105/-115)
The Predators return home on the heels of a crushing 5-1 defeat to the Stars last night in Dallas. As for the Golden Knights, they edged out the Wild in a 4-3 shootout, increasing their Pacific Division lead to three points. These two Western Conference foes get underway tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN.
I'm rolling with Vegas on the moneyline as short favorites tonight. With both teams entering on a back-to-back and each of their playoff lives intact (although far from similar circumstances), I have to give the edge to the more veteran squad. Nashville came into the year with some veteran players; however, their season has essentially been derailed by injuries to Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, and Matt Duchene. Furthermore, offloading Mattias Ekholm to Edmonton at the deadline probably didn't inspire much confidence heading into the stretch run.
On top of that, Juuse Saros (30-22-7) went last night against Dallas and he's been the backbone of this team. Even if he does get the start, I expect the Golden Knights to do enough to secure a win against a potentially fatigued goaltender. Let's back Vegas in this spot.
Bet: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-125)
