Today's Best Bets

NBA Best Bets

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Clippers

Many players are questionable for this game. On the Los Angeles side, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are both game-time decisions after missing the game against Milwaukee on Sunday.

On the other hand, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Kyle Anderson and Monte Morris are all questionable on Minnesota's side. Gobert, Anderson and Morris didn't play in Minnesota's most recent loss to the Lakers.

Of course, the Clippers are also currently without Russell Westbrook, while the Timberwolves no longer have Karl-Anthony Towns due to an injury.

The Timberwolves have the best defense in the NBA, holding teams to 108.7 points per 100 possessions and limiting opponents to a 51.2% effective field goal percentage this year. When the Clippers struggle to make shots, they'll also struggle to earn second-chance points against the Timberwolves.

Meanwhile, Minnesota's offense is nothing special. The turnovers could get a little high, and they'll also struggle to earn a high rate of offensive rebounds. Therefore, I'm on the Under 215.5.

Bet: Under 215.5 (-110)

Colorado Avalanche @ Calgary Flames

The Avalanche hit the road tonight as they open up a four-game road trip. The first stop is in Calgary, Alberta, where they'll take on a Flames side that's sixth in the Pacific Division with 67 points. This Western Conference clash is set for 9:00 p.m. ET from the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Like the Coyotes, it's very clear that the Flames have seen enough this season. Over the last month, they've traded away Elias Lindholm (Canucks), Chris Tanev (Stars) and Noah Hanifin (Golden Knights). Since Friday's deadline, Calgary's 0-2-0, getting out-scored 12-3! I don't see the team banding together and rebounding tonight against a red-hot Avs club. I'll lay the 1.5 goals with Colorado in this spot.

First off, Colorado has the offense to stretch this lead out and cover the puck line. They bring in the league's best offense, scoring 3.7 goals per contest. They're also seventh on the power play, cashing 24.45% of their man-advantage opportunities. The Avs have won five of their last six games, covering the puck line in four of those contests. They've out-scored their opposition 25-9 over the six-game sample size. Let's back the Avs to take care of this floundering Flames team.

Bet: Avalanche -1.5 (+140)

College Basketball Best Bets

Stony Brook vs. College of Charleston

In the Coastal Championship, Charleston is a double-digit favorite with a total of over 150. It's not exactly the closest game, but you should be aware of the Charleston name heading into the tournament.

The Cougars, led by coach Pat Kelsey, currently have the second-longest active win streak in College Basketball, 11 straight games. In the regular season, they only faced Stony Brook once, handling business on the road with a 93-87 victory.

Charleston loves to run and gun. With a top-50 pace of play in the nation, nearly 40% of their points come from beyond the arc, the 15th highest in the league. Reyne Smith can knock it down from anywhere, and Ben Burnham can also get hot. The Cougars rebound well and take care of the ball, so there should be plenty of shot opportunities tonight.

What they don't do so well is play defense. Ranking 170th in KenPom, Charleston absolutely has some holes for Stony Brook to exploit. Considering how game one went, I expect many shots and makes here, so I'm happy to ride the over.

Bet: Over 150.5 (-110)
