Georgia is coming off a convincing 10-3 win against one of the top teams in the nation, Clemson. It’s no surprise that the Bulldogs opened as substantial home favorites of 26.5 points against UAB.
Having said that, not all bettors are convinced that Georgia will cover this spread. This is a hangover spot for the Bulldogs after playing one of the most noteworthy games of the season. Also, there are reports that Georgia is dealing with COVID-19 issues, and several players could miss this game.

Overview
We briefly mentioned this in the introduction, but Georgia finds itself in a letdown spot. That doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily lose the game, but covering more than four scores could be a difficult task. The Bulldogs are dealing with COVID-19 issues with their players and staff. The sidelined players have not been named, but it makes sense to watch this situation as we move through the week.
Meanwhile, this is the biggest game of the season for UAB. They have a chance to knock off a top-five team, and it’s the only shot they’ll get at hanging with the big boys this season. UAB handled Jacksonville State 31-0 last week, but they’ll be stepping up in class against one of the best teams in the country. Still, the Blazers represent one of the better teams in Conference USA, so they are no pushover.

Bottom Line
This all comes down to the health of Georgia. It’s a legitimate concern, along with the hangover angle after last Saturday’s massive victory.
Of course, we’ll need to see how things develop through the week. Either way, I believe that UAB can hang within the number. Georgia’s defense is outstanding, but this could be a spot where the Bulldogs do just enough to get by without really putting the pedal to the medal. I’m leaning towards UAB +24.5 for that reason.
