UFC 259: Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya Betting Guide

In what’s being billed already as the “best card of 2021”, UFC 259: Blachowicz vs. Adesanya will feature four separate current titleholders before it’s all said and done.

While the bantamweight will be up for grabs earlier in the night, the women’s featherweight division will also be up for grabs in the co-main event. In it, the legend Amanda Nunes defends her belt for the 7th straight fight, this time against Megan Anderson.

In the evening’s main event, the light heavyweight belt will be up for grabs as current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moves up to try and retain two belts at once. His opponent Jan Balchowicz will be making his first official title defense.

Let’s take a closer look.

Betting Profile: Jan Blachowicz (27-8-0)

A striking specialist, three of Blachowicz’s last four wins have come via KO/TKO, all before the end of the second round. His 3.49 Strikes Landed per Min. (SLpM) ranks him near the top of the light heavyweight division, as well as his 48% striking accuracy.

A Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Blachowicz also has the ability to roll with the best of them, a skill that’s rarely used in the strike-heavy division he calls home.

Betting Profile: Israel Adesanya (20-0-0)

For Israel “Stylebender” Adesanya, it’s hard to find a fighter with a nickname more fitting the bill. A Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Adesanya is also a former champion kickboxer who has the ability to end a fight, often in the manner in which he chooses.

Having never lost a professional fight, 75% of his victories have come via KO/TKO, and his astonishing 4.1 SLpM remains one of the best in the sport.

Outright Bet

Make no mistake about it, Blachowicz is a tank and as formidable an opponent as Stylebender has likely seen to this point in his career. However, from a pure value standpoint, you’ll be hardpressed to get Adesanya at this short of odds for some time.

With that said, I like the length and fluidity of Adesanya to overwhelm the stockier Blachowicz and for this one to end late but inside the bell.

Pick: Israel Adesanya -230

Top Prop Bet

With no belt being on the line for Adesanya, I expect him to come into this one even more loose than usual and ready to put on a show. A win here would truly push him into the stratosphere of UFC stars, and I think we see a showing fit for that kind of splash.
