UFC 260 Co-Main Event: Tyron Woodley vs. Vicente Luque Betting Guide

Right before the heavyweight belt gets put on the line in the main event between Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic, two welterweights will throw down in the co-main. Unlike most bouts, the lowered seeded Tyron Woodley (#7) comes into this one a big underdog to Vincente Luque (#10).

On top of nearly a 10 year age difference, Woodley comes into this one on a three-fight losing streak with his future in the UFC very much on the line.

Can he bounce back against an up and comer of Luque’s caliber?  Let’s take a closer look.

Betting Profile: Tyron Woodley (19-6-1)

Last Five Fights

In what feels like in many ways a (losing) farewell tour of the former Welterweight champion, Woodley comes in this one having lost three straight fights. While all have gone into the 5th, and his most recent was ended due to injury, Woodley is in desperate need of a win to not get dropped by the company.

Despite the losses, Woodley still possesses one of the best takedown defenses in the division at a clip of 87%. A former Division 1 wrestler, his ability on the ground hasn’t wavered as he’s aged, but his quickness both in and outside the clench is where he continues to find trouble.

Betting Profile: Vicente Luque (19-7-1)

Last Five Fights

W W L W W

Despite winning eight of his last nine fights, with all three of his losses in the UFC coming via decisions via wars, Luque continues to get disrespected amongst the welterweight ranks. Six of those aforementioned wins came via what Luque knows best: striking.

Luque is averaging 5.72 SLpM and landing over 50% (53%) of his strikes to this point in his career. In his two fights of 2020, Luque dismantled two adequate strikers in Niko Price and Randy Brown and surely comes into this one with his eyes on knocking out a former champion in Tyron Woodley.

Outright Bet

After winning the welterweight belt in 2017, Woodley successfully defended it four times before losing it to the current champ Kamaru Usman. Whether it be age, partying, or likely a combination of both, Woodley hasn’t been the same fighter since.

On the other side of the octagon, Luque is probably the most disrespected fighter in the UFC today (from a ranking standpoint), and I expect the momentum he gained in 2020 to carry over here.

Pick: Vicente Luque -250

Top Prop Bet

Outside of a decision (unanimous) loss to Stephen Thompson at UFC 244, Luque has KO/TKO’d six of his last eight opponents. In what I expect to be a quick fight, I like Luque to make a splash in the unexpected co-main event of the evening.

Pick: Vicente Luque by KO/TKO +230
