A look at the women’s record books in the UFC shows Nunes might have well authored it. The all-time leader in wins, finishes, KO/TKO wins, and title fight wins to name a few, Nunes has a storied career that many believe could just be getting started.
Coming into this fight, Nunes is landing 4.5 strikes per minute, 51% significant, and has a clear striking advantage over her opponent in Peña. With more than 60% of her UFC wins coming via KO/TKO, Peña will be on high alert early and often.

For Peña, one aspect of her game she doesn’t lack is experience against the best of the best. Since joining the UFC in 2013, Peña has had big wins over the likes of Cat Zingano (Nunes only loss in the UFC), Jessica Eye, and most recently Sara McMann back in January of this year.
While she is at a disadvantage statistically from both a striking and grappling standpoint, Peña does hold the edge in defense on her feet as she comes into this one absorbing just 1.7 strikes per minute.
Bottom Line?
With the juice certainly too far off the charts to get involved in a straight side, I’m taking Nunes to end this one out of the gates. While the experienced Peña could potentially try to draw this one out, there should be some added motivation on Nunes’ side after Peña ran her mouth in the weeks leading up to the fight.
Look for an aggressive and motivated Nunes to end this one very early.
