UFC 275 Parlay Odds & Picks: Glover Teixeira vs. Jiří Procházka (2022)

This weekend, the UFC heads overseas as Singapore will host its first official event with UFC 275. Before the pay-per-view event gets underway on Saturday evening, Road to UFC will kickoff Thursday/Friday, which is a UFC-style tournament featuring international fighters.

Once that wraps, all attention turns towards the monster card that is UFC 275, headlined by two title fights in the men’s light heavyweight and women’s flyweight divisions.

Let’s take a closer look at the two-leg parlay I have my eye on for Saturday’s main card.

Leg #1.  Jiri Procházka (-200 at DK Sportsbook)

Becoming the oldest first-time world champion at 42 years old was no small task. UFC veteran Glover Teixeira climbed the mountain nearly eight years after his first belt opportunity (loss) to Jon Jones. While it shouldn’t be discounted in the slightest, I think there is a sense of “happy to be there” coming from his camp, and he’s picked the wrong one should he enter the octagon with that attitude on Saturday.

For his first challenger in steps Jiří Procházka, a 29-year-old Czech killer with one of the most brutal punches in the entire sport. Coming into this fight, 25 of his 28 professional wins have come via KO/TKO, with seven of his last 10 coming in the very first round. While Tex will likely try and get this one to the ground early, I think the lank and athletic Procházka can keep it upright and see this one going the challenger’s way before it’s all said and done.

Leg #2. Weili Zhang (-165 at DK Sportsbook)

We’ve seen the money come in on the underdog Joanna Jedrzejzcyk since it opened up, and I think it’s in the wrong direction. Already training in the nearby Thailand full-time, Zhang comes into this week with a big advantage regarding the body clock and normal training routine with Jedrzejzcyk flying in from her training camp in Florida.

For Zhang, two consecutive losses for the women’s strawweight belt to Rose Namajunas set her up for her first different opponent since March 2020, who was also Jedrzejzcyk. This will be Joanna’s first fight since then, a split decision loss, then for the belt that Zhang held.

Dealing with a head injury since, Jedrzejzcyk finally gets her rematch in this fight, which I think she would have been better suited with a warmup in the time between. While the two are about even in striking, Zhang has big edges in grappling, with a takedown average of 1.75 per 15 minutes (.28) and a submission average of .35 per 15 minutes (vs. .06).

Though I think Jedrzejzcyk will be fine long term, I believe the currently more active fighter in Zhang has a bigger advantage than -165 in this one.
