Kai Asakura is making his UFC debut this weekend but will fight for the title against the champion, Alexandre Pantoja. Dana White and the matchmakers know what they are doing by bringing in Asakura to fight for the belt. This fight card is loaded with interesting matchups, even on the prelims. It should be an interesting card. The action will begin at 6 p.m. EST, with the main card on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST.

Chris Weidman (-118) vs. Eryk Anders (-102)
These men were supposed to fight last month at UFC 309, but Anders had to withdraw due to a medical issue. After cutting weight a short time ago, the fight was rebooked at 195 pounds to limit the weight cut. Both men are nearing the end of their careers but won their last fight. Weidman beat Bruno Silva via unanimous decision in March, and Anders beat Jamie Pickett in the same month.
Anders is well-rounded but does not excel at one particular thing. Weidman is a great wrestler and former champion who has beaten Anderson Silva, Lyota Machida, and Vitor Belfort. Weidman is likely the better wrestler, but Anders is no slouch. I expect Anders to defend takedowns from the 40-year-old Weidman, but he gets hit too much. He absorbs 4.17 significant strikes per minute and does not offer much in return after getting hit. Weidman should have a solid game plan and want to rack up a few wins as he nears retirement.

Randy Brown (+180) vs. Bryan Battle (-218)
Bryan Battle is emerging as one of the better fighters in the welterweight division as he continues to grow. He is facing Randy Brown, an 18-fight UFC veteran with a well-rounded skill set that has earned him a 13-5 UFC record. Styles make fights, and I love Battle's style in this fight. Battle is a pressure fighter who breaks the will of his opponents. Brown is typically a point fighter who has won seven of his fights via decision.
Randy "Rudeboy" Brown has power in his hands, but his knockouts are few and far between. He typically stays at range and tries to land more strikes than his opponents. Battle takes chances and has natural finishing ability. His only loss in the UFC was against Rinat Fakhretdinov, who landed seven takedowns and controlled the fight on the mat. Brown will not be able to do that. He will have to stand toe-to-toe with Battle and earn his respect.
The one thing Battle does that is worrisome is his chin tends to get high. Brown will have chances to touch his chin when Battle moves away, but he has to watch out for Battle's counters. Battle undoubtedly has the power advantage in this matchup and could find a choke if he decides to grapple. Battle should overwhelm Brown and win this fight via finish.
