The star power is heavy for this card, and there are great matchups from top to bottom. Ilia Topuria vacated his featherweight belt to move up to lightweight and will face challenger Charles Oliveira. Alexandre Pantoja will put his belt on the line in the co-main event against Kai Kara-France. The atmosphere is always electric in Las Vegas, and the crowd will be packed early in the night for the plethora of entertaining matchups. Leg 1: Jose Delgado Moneyline (-155)
Jose Delgado is fighting Hyder Amil, who is undefeated at 11-0. Delgado is 9-1 as a professional and won his debut against Connor Matthews by first-round knockout. This is an excellent matchup between top featherweight prospects. Delgado has a four-inch reach advantage and is eight years younger.
The difference in this fight is the wrestling. Delgado averages 4.80 takedowns per 15 minutes through one fight in the UFC, and Amil is aggressive as a striker. Delgado will be able to time takedowns as Amil moves into range. He can also use his kickboxing skills to counter Amil when he gets reckless.
Leg 2: Joshua Van Moneyline (-115)
Joshua Van fought three weeks ago and is stepping in on short notice to replace Manel Kape. He will fight Brandon Royval in a three-round fight. Royval has fought in three consecutive five-round fights, and Van's volume is a problem for every fighter. Van starts quickly and lands 8.20 significant strikes per minute, which is currently a UFC record.
Royval is a chaotic fighter, aggressive in both striking and on the mat. Van must stay on his feet because Royval has dangerous submission skills. Van defends 81% of takedowns in the UFC, but Royval is not much of a wrestler. This fight should remain standing, and that favors Van. He has quick hands and excellent boxing skills, with solid low kicks and effective body shots. Van can win this close matchup on the scorecards in a great situation on short notice.
Leg 3: Alexandre Pantoja Moneyline (-238)
Alexandre Pantoja will defend his flyweight belt against Kai Kara-France in the co-main event. Pantoja has defended his title three times since winning it over Brandon Moreno in 2023. Kara-France had fought for the title before but got knocked out by Moreno.
Pantoja is an elite wrestler in the Flyweight Division. He lands 2.74 takedowns per 15 minutes, while Kara-France defends 88% of takedowns. I expect him to control Kara-France on the mat for the majority of the fight and end it inside the distance with a submission or ground-and-pound.
Kara-France has elite power for the division, so Pantoja should be cautious in the early stages of this fight. He throws big hooks and lands at a low rate (39%). He defends 65% of significant strikes from his opponents. Pantoja can stand with Kara-France, but the easiest path to victory is landing a takedown and controlling him on the ground. Pantoja is the champion for a reason, and I expect him to showcase a well-rounded skillset in his fourth title defense.
