UFC Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 9 Odds, Picks & Predictions (9/20)

We’re currently in the final two weeks of Dana White’s Contender Series’ sixth season, which has been riveting from the day it began. Let’s examine a few fights on tonight’s card I’m most interested in and where the value is before the first opening bell of the five scheduled bouts for Tuesday.

UFC Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 9 Odds, Picks & Predictions (9/20)

Roybert Echeverria (+135) vs. Jafel Filho (-155)

Tonight at the Apex, Roy Echeverria and Jafel Filho will square off in a flyweight bout that promises to be explosive. Echeverria, who has a perfect 7-0 record and only turned professional two years ago, has quickly risen through the ranks and is currently competing in the Miami-based promotion Titan FC. His most challenging fight to date, which he won by split decision in late 2021, was the last time we saw him in the cage.

His most challenging fight to date, which he won by split decision in late 2021, was the last time we saw him in the cage. Regarding Filho, the Brazilian enters this fight with a winning streak of four straight victories, all in the span of two rounds. He also last competed in December, winning by first-round submission to set up this contest in Las Vegas.

Filho is the veteran of the two at 13-2 as a professional, and also has the more impressive victory; a 2019 inside-the-distance win over fellow DWCS alum (and winner) Vinicius Salvador. While this one might be close initially, I think we see Filho get this one done in the later rounds.

Pick: Jafel Filho (-155 via DraftKings)

Leon Aliu (+215) vs. Bruno Ferreira (-255)

Leon Aliu and Bruno Ferreira square off in the evening’s main event on Tuesday. A middleweight clash, these two are some of the best the division has seen in this entire season of DWCS. Despite being 33 years old, Aliu has only been a professional fighter for six years, but in that time, he has already defeated UFC alumni Leonardo Damiani (DWCS) and Amilcar Alves. He last appeared in the ring in May, defeating James Webb in the opening round of Cage Warriors 138.

Since turning professional in 2019, Ferreira has a perfect 8-0 record, with none of those contests going to the judge’s scorecards. I’ll support the underdog in this event, as we typically see in the DWCS big events, and anticipate a statement victory as a result.

Pick: Bruno Ferreira (-255 via DraftKings)
