UFC Fight Night: Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Joseph Benavidez Betting Guide (2020)

The long-awaited UFC Fight Island, through two events, has been a smashing success. Not only did Saturday’s Pay-Per-View event draw numbers that the company hasn’t seen since the McGregor-Khabib fight, but the location has managed to avoid any reported outbreaks. The UFC has been able to handle the few fighters who did test positive.

The fights themselves have also been stellar. Both main events have gone the distance and offered a ton of action, and the rest of the big-time fights have garnered plenty of opportunities for bettors to cash tickets.

With that said, the UFC wasted no time in putting together another great card. This one is headlined by a rematch of two flyweights looking to make a move in an increasingly crowded division. Like Wednesday’s events, the entire card will be streamed on ESPN and their family of networks.

Let’s take a closer look at Saturday’s main event and see where we can spot an edge.

Coming in as the favorite, Deiveson Figueiredo is currently ranked higher. He beat Benavidez his last time inside the octagon in what was supposed to be for the flyweight belt. However, Figueiredo missed weight, and the belt remains up for grabs.

In that fight, Figueiredo TKO’d his opponent early in the second round and was in total control from the start. Since joining the UFC in 2017, Figueiredo has largely dismantled the flyweight division, losing just once to Jussier Formiga in a questionable decision in early 2019.

On the other side of this fight, Benavidez comes into the octagon as one of the longest-tenured UFC journeymen on the roster, having joined the company in 2011. Benavidez’s loss last time out was his fourth fight for the flyweight belt.

Luckily for Benavidez, he won’t have to wait long to get one more chance at the flyweight championship. This will likely be his last, unfortunately, and he’ll take on one of the baddest 125-pound fighters that the sport has ever seen.

In this one, I see two fighters who know each other well. More importantly, I see a fighter in Benavidez who has to lay it all on the line. I expect to be a dog fight, and I’m looking for another mid-pandemic main event to go the distance. This should be a very entertaining fight.

Pick: Will the fight go the distance? – YES (+158)
