UFC Fight Night: Dominick Reyes vs. Jiří Procházka Betting Guide

After one of the most exciting UFC cards in recent memory, as fans were back for the first time in over a year, we return to the UFC Apex Saturday for a night of free fights televised on ESPN 2.

While the card is stacked with sneaky good fights, all eyes will be on the main event of the evening as Dominick Reyes will look to overcome the first losing streak of his career against the up-and-coming Jiří Procházka. With much at stake for the future of the light heavyweight division, let’s take a closer look at the fight itself and see where the value remains.

Betting Profile: Dominick Reyes (12-2-0)

Currently ranked the #3 contender in the division, Reyes is coming off back-to-back losses (both title shots) for the first time in his career. While the first was against pound-for-pound champ Jon Jones in a five-round affair, the second came in the 2nd round via TKO by the fists of Jan BÅ‚achowicz.

One area Reyes particularly excels in is his ability not to get taken down. To this point in his career, he possesses an 82% takedown defense clip to put him near the top of the division.

Betting Profile: Jiří Procházka (27-3-1)

ForProcházka, the sample size in the UFC is small, having just one fight with the company, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a straight killer. Of his 31 professional fights, 24 have ended in a knockout, including his July 2020 2nd round defeat of Volkan Oezdemir, which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.

Prochazka dominated from start to finish in that one fight sample size, landing 5.67 strikes per minute.

Outright Bet

Though he’s only fought once in the UFC, Dana White and company are excited about Prochazka for a reason, and a big win here on national tv would propel him into another level almost instantly. While Reyes’ experience helps him stick around for the first round, I see Prochazka ultimately getting the best of him and ending this one early.

Pick: Jiří Procházka -132

Top Prop Bet

With not much to go on within the UFC, the next logical place to go is to look at the havoc Prochazka caused in his rise to this point. With only three of his 31 professional fights making it into the third round, I like the 28-year-old Czach native to make a splash in his first main event in the UFC.

Pick: Jiří Procházka by KO/TKO +125
