As America’s sports leagues emerge from the coronavirus shutdown, the UFC is already hitting its stride. Having been putting on fights domestically now for well over a month, the company has just a couple more in Las Vegas before it debuts the much anticipated “Fight Island†off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
Before Fight Island’s kicks off on July 12th, the company will hold its fourth event in four weeks at its UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas. Streamed in its entirety on the ESPN+ family of networks, Saturday offers a main and co-main event that should both feature a ton of action.

Josh Emmett (15-2-0) vs. Shane Burgos (13-1-0)

Josh Emmett enters the octagon Saturday night after an 11-month hiatus, and he’ll look to shake off some minor ring rust in his latest quest for the featherweight belt.
The last time we saw him inside the octagon, he bested Mirsad Bektic in the first round. Emmett finished the fight by TKO (punches) to earn himself Performance of the Night honors. With the win, Emmett clinched his third by KO/TKO in his previous four fights. Now he faces another fighter with a flair for the dramatic.
Shane Burgos enters this fight having won three of his last four. He is currently ranked as the No. 10 contender for the featherweight belt, and he’s working his way up. Having last fought at UFC 244 in November, Burgos has just one professional loss to his name. That defeat came against Calvin Kattar in early 2018.
In his loss to Kattar, Burgos showed the heart of a warrior before succumbing to a TKO (punches) in the third and final round. Still winning Fight of the Night honors (for the second time in less than a year), Burgos put his name on the radar as a legit contender in the division.
In this one, though he is ranked lower, I’m putting my money on Burgos. He has a four-inch advantage, and he lands nearly double the punches at 7.1 per minute.
