UFC Fight Night: Ovince Saint Preux vs. Alonzo Menifield Betting Guide (2020)

A week after what was, to be frank, a largely boring Pay-Per-View card, the UFC starts another run of five straight free vents beginning with Saturday’s UFC on ESPN: Munhoz vs. Edgar. Like the prior three, this week’s card will be held at the UFC’s facility, the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas, NV.

Before two bantamweights take the main stage in Saturday’s main event, a pair of light heavyweights in Ovince Saint Preux and Alonzo Menifield will go at it in what should be a very closely contested affair.

Let’s take a closer look at the co-main event of the evening and see where we can find some value.

Standing at 6’4″ with an 80-inch wingspan, Saint Preux comes into this fight with a significant size advantage over the smaller Menifield. A brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Saint Preux relies heavily on his submission game, and this fight should be no different as he goes against a strike heavy opponent I expect him to try and take down almost right away.

The last time we saw Saint Preux inside the octagon was one of the more brutal decisions of his career, a three-round split decision loss as he made his heavyweight debut against Ben Rothwell. The loss marked the fourth in Saint Preux’s previous six fights, as he enters this one in desperate need to stay relevant in the division he had thoughts of leaving.

Facing Saint Preux on Saturday night is another fighter looking to get back on track after a loss the last time we saw him. Facing Devin Clark at UFC 250 back in June at UFC 250, Menifield lost a back and forth fight by unanimous decision, finding himself in the losing column for the first time in his professional career.

At 32 years old, Menifield is relatively fresh in the fight game with just 10 fights to his name, and getting back on track on this one could go a long way in getting his name in the rankings for the first time in his career.

With eight of his nine career wins in the sport coming knockout, Menifield potentially poses a major threat to Saint Preux if the two decide to stand and strike. I don’t, however, see that happening.

Instead, I like Saint Preux to move toward the ground and pound, with Menifield doing everything in his power to avoid a potentially devastating second consecutive loss.

Pick: Will the Fight Go the Distance – YES (+210)
