UFC Fight Night: Rob Font vs. Cody Garbrandt Betting Guide

Following a night in front of a sold-out crowd at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, last weekend, the UFC returns home to Las Vegas, NV, for a night of fights at the UFC Apex.

In what will likely be one of the final main events this year behind closed doors, a bantamweight match between Rob Font and former champion Cody Garbrandt is slated to cap things off.

Let’s take a closer look at the weekend’s main attraction between two fighters looking to move up the ranks.

Betting Profile: Rob Font (18-4-0)

Since joining the UFC in 2014, Font has bounced around the division but has yet to get a shot to fight for the title. Currently ranked the #3 contender, Font has earned Fight Night bonuses in each of his last fights, most recently in December 2020 after a first-round TKO of Marlon Moraes.

Coming into this one with a staggering 5.21 Strikes Landed per Min. (SLpM), Font is one of the better strikers in a weight class not known for its knockout ability.

Betting Profile: Cody Garbrandt (12-3-0)

After joining the UFC in 2015, Garbrandt ascended the bantamweight ranks quickly, earning a shot at and subsequently winning the UFC Bantamweight Championship in late 2016 against Dominick Cruz. Since then, unfortunately, Garbrandt’s star has decidedly faded as he’s lost three of four since including two to TJ Dillashaw.

With no mixed martial art accolades to speak of, Garbrandt is known for relying heavily on his wrestling (former Division II wrestler) and comes into this one with a takedown defense of 100%.

Outright Bet

This main event offers as even odds as we’ve seen in quite some time, and it’s easy to see why when looking at the tale of the tape. However, I think the edge comes in Font’s ability to strike and Garbrandt’s inclination to avoid it at all costs.

If Garbrandt can get Font to the ground, which will be difficult, I see that as being his best shot at a path to victory.

Pick: Font -102

Top Prop Bet

If Garbrandt has shown a propensity for anything in his defeats, it’s getting knocked out, as three of his last four have ended in that exact fashion. Rarely has he faced a fighter with the level of Muay Thai that Font possesses, and I see that playing out here accordingly.

Pick: Rob Font by TKO/KO +175
