UFC Vegas 69 Jessica Andrade vs. Erin Blanchfield: Odds & Picks (2023)

For UFC Vegas 69,  the UFC is back at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Originally, Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen were scheduled to face off, but that was changed to Erin Blanchfield and Taila Santos, and Blanchfield will now fight Jessica Andrade on Saturday, who accepted the fight on a week’s notice.

While there’s plenty of value on this UFC Fight Night card from top to bottom, let’s take a closer look at how things might play out in the main event.

Betting Profile: Jessica Andrade (24-9-0)

Last Five Fights (W-W-W-L-W)

This contest was intended to be the first encounter between Blanchfield and the number one contender in the division, Taila Santos; however, Santos pulled out of the fight barely a week ago, leaving the fate of this fight in doubt. Not only does Andrade take this fight on a week’s notice, but she also recently competed at UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Hill, which took place 27 days ago. Andrade has just recently signed a new deal.

A former strawweight champion, Andrade lost that belt in 2019, working her way up the flyweight division for a title shot in April 2021, Andrade lost to Shevchenko, the current champ. Since then, Andrade has been on a terror, winning three straight fights with two coming inside the distance.

Betting Profile: Erin Blanchfield (10-1-0)

Last Five Fights (W-W-W-W-W)

I was onsite in November at Madison Square Garden to witness Blanchfield turn Molly Meatball into ground meat. As a result, I believe the women’s bantamweight category has an absolute killer on their hands. Coming into this fight, Blanchfield has just one loss in her professional career, a split decision defeat all the way back in February 2019.

Blanchfield is a notch above on the ground, owning considerable advantages in submission average (4x) and takedown average. While the striking is very even between the two, Blanchfield is a step above (2x). Blanchfield entered this bout on a seven-fight winning streak, and she had recently finished both of her previous opponents via submission in less than two rounds.

Bottom Line

But make no mistake, Andrade is a vicious fighter who is currently at the peak of her career. However, styles make fights, and I believe that the Brazilian striker has chosen a style that will not serve her well.
