UFL Week 8 Odds & Picks: Defenders vs. Renegades (Sunday)

The Defenders and Renegades have quality offenses, starting at the top with their quarterbacks. Their offenses were on full display in Week 5, when the Defenders beat the Renegades 37-33 in the highest-scoring game of the 2025 UFL season. Will they have another shootout in the rematch?

UFL Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Week 8 (Sunday)

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

D.C. Defenders vs. Arlington Renegades

The Renegades are in a funk. They’re 3-4 on the season. Sadly, they’ve lost three straight and four of their last five after starting 2-0. Moreover, they’re 0-2 on the road. However, their games have mainly produced points lately. Since Week 4, their game totals were 45, 70, 18 and 49 points. That’s an average of 45.5 and a median of 47 points in Arlington’s previous four games.

The Defenders are 5-2 on the season and 2-1 at home, with 53 points for and 47 points against in their home games. After sluggish, low-scoring contests the first few weeks, with game totals of 29 points in Week 1 and 29 points in Week 2, their games have been more offense-friendly lately. Since Week 4, D.C.’s games have had totals of 42, 70, 52 and 56 points, for an average and median of 55 and 54 points, respectively.

As I mentioned in the intro, the firepower from these offenses starts with their signal-callers. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Jordan Ta’amu is first in the UFL in passing yards (1,751), passing touchdowns (14) and big-time throws (10) this season. Meanwhile, Luis Perez is second in passing yards (1,451) and tied for second in big-time throws (seven).

Their rushing attacks aren’t as impressive but aren’t entirely inept, either. The Defenders are fifth in rushing yards per game (94.4), and the Renegades are fifth in rushing yards per game (93.1) and third in rushing touchdowns (seven) in 2025.

The total package is average or above-average for scoring. As a result, the Defenders are second in points per game (23.3), and the Renegades are fourth in points per game (20.9). In addition, the defenses have a knack for producing turnovers, which can result in short fields, quick scoring and a shootout environment. D.C. has forced the most turnovers (13) this year, and Arlington is tied for the second-most takeaways (12). The Defenders and Renegades are unlikely to match the season-high shootout from a few weeks ago, but another back-and-forth, high-scoring game that exceeds 42.5 points is probable.

Pick: Over 42.5 (-112)
