Updated 2022 Cy Young Award Odds: Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Corbin Burnes
Injuries continue to be the story when it comes to early Cy Young odds, especially in the National League. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom has yet to throw a pitch this season and is likely out until July. Now, the New York Mets will be without Max Scherzer, who has won the award twice in the National League and once more in the American League, for approximately two months after he suffered an oblique injury on Wednesday. Scherzerâs odds dropped from around +450 at most sportsbooks to a high of +4500 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
2020 winner Trevor Bauer hasnât pitched since the beginning of last season and is currently appealing a two-year suspension. As a result, 2021 winner Corbin Burnes is currently the favorite for the award almost by default.
In the American League, the clock is being turned back a few years. 39-year-old Justin Verlander, who entered the season having thrown just six innings since the end of the 2019 season due to Tommy John surgery, is currently the favorite at most sportsbooks. Whether or not he will be able to throw enough innings to actually take home the award remains to be seen, but he has the early edge over Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, and Gerrit Cole.
Letâs take a look at the current 2022 MLB Cy Young Odds across all of the major sportsbooks.

What are Player Futures?
Player futures refer to any player-based wager for a future event or a result. These bets often do not pay out until weeks or even months from when they are originally placed. Most player futures are built around a specific statistic, where bettors determine whether that player will come in above or below the oddsmakersâ total. They often open with odds at -110 but are adjusted based on where the majority of bets are placed.
