USFL Best Bets, Odds, Picks & Predictions: Stallions vs. Breakers (2023)
The South Division is superior to the North Division and will close out this week’s action with their Championship Game. The Stallions are attempting to defend their 2022 title and square off with the Breakers. These two met in last year’s South Division Championship game and split the season series in 2023. It should be a fun contest, and betting on a winner isn’t necessarily the most appealing way to get betting action on the game.

Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers
The Breakers lost to the Stallions in all three meetings in 2022. With a new starting quarterback and head coach, they finally got their division foe’s number in Week 3, beating them 45-31. The Stallions bounced back in Week 7, beating the Breakers 24-20. So, they’ve combined to score 120 points in two games in 2023.
Their cumulative scoring output shouldn’t have been a surprise. Birmingham was first in the USFL in scoring with 287 points, 50 more than the second-highest total. And the Breakers were second in scoring, posting 237 points, which was 14 more than the next-highest mark. These clubs can light up the scoreboard.
Unsurprisingly, both teams move the ball. The Stallions led the USFL in yards per game (332.6), and the Breakers were second (315.4). No one else had over 300.0 yards per game. These offenses were in a class of their own. In addition, the Stallions yielded the most yards per game (309.0). The Breakers were stouter on defense, holding teams to the fewest points per game (17.0) and second-fewest yards per game (272.2).
As good as New Orleans’s defense is, they’ll have their hands full with the best player in the league, Alex McGough. The Breakers also have a stellar quarterback, McLeod Bethel-Thompson. They both have a bevy of options in the passing attack and do-it-all bell-cow running backs. This game should be a blast and produce a ton of points. The Stallions are rightfully favored and should probably be favored by a bit more than 3.0 points as the home team and the best team in the league. So, if forced to pick against the spread, I’d choose the Stallion -3.0 points. However, I have more conviction about this game shooting out and believe the over is the best bet.
