The Valkyries picked up a 76-74 win over the Mystics at home on Wednesday, cashing as a 5-point underdog. Veronica Burton led the way with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists along with two steals, while Kayla Thornton bounced back from a dismal showing in the opener, posting 18 points with five boards, two steals and a blocked shot. The Valkyries were able to find a way despite shooting just 32% (23-of-72) from the field, and 19% (7-of-37) from distance.
The Sparks rolled to an 84-67 win over the Valkyries in San Francisco in the expansion team’s first-ever game, as L.A. cashed as a 5.5-point favorite. L.A. has lost each game since, allowing 89 points in both setbacks. The Sparks are 2-1 ATS in three outings, while cashing low in two of three games.
