Washington at Dallas Cowboys Odds & Game Pick

The Cowboys need to win this week just to have a chance to make the playoffs, while Washington will be without Dwayne Haskins who injured his ankle last week. Case Keenum will get the start as Washington looks to spoil the Cowboys’ season and leave them without any chance of wrapping up the NFC East. With a win, Washington could do damage to their draft position. They currently have the second pick but could still drop to third.

Overview

Dwayne Haskins was having the best game of his career last weekend versus the Giants before going down with an ankle injury. He was 12-15 for 133 yards, two touchdowns, and a quarterback rating of 143.2, but unfortunately saw his rookie season come to a grinding halt before the game could end. Case Keenum replaced him and played well, and will now look to lead Washington to a victory over the Cowboys and spoil any chance they might have had to win the NFC East.

Back in Week 2, when these two teams met for the first time this season, Washington was outgained 474-255 with Keenum under center. Keenum did play very well in that game despite the result as he threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns. His top weapon, Terry McLaurin, is listed as questionable ahead of this week’s game as he entered the league’s concussion protocol.

The Cowboys need to win this game and pray for a Giants’ victory over the Eagles in order to win the NFC East. The Eagles are certainly beat up, but they were still able to handle the Cowboys’ offense last week in what was one of Dak Prescott‘s worst performances of the season. Jason Garrett is almost sure to be fired at the end of the season, barring a miracle run in the playoffs, and the Cowboys will go down as one of the most disappointing teams of the 2019 NFL season.

The Cowboys’ offense is still ranked first in the NFL in yards and second in the league in passing yards per game. But it hasn’t been enough to actually put points on the board and get the necessary results to put them in a position to win the division and be a true contender in the NFC.

Prop Bet

Washington under 16 points
With Terry McLaurin in concussion protocol and the Cowboys in desperate need of a win, it’s hard to see where Washington is going to get their points from. If McLaurin can’t play, Washington has no perimeter threats which means that the Cowboys can stack the box and stop Adrian Peterson or Chris Thompson from getting anything.

Bottom Line

The Cowboys’ collapse is almost complete but it won’t end for them with another loss. Washington’s defense was torched last week by the Giants, and though the Cowboys’ offense has looked bad in recent weeks, they showed what they are capable of two weeks ago against the Rams. Terry McLaurin may not be able to go this weekend which would make things very easy for the Cowboys’ secondary. The offense will come out angry after their performance last week and pick apart a battered Washington defense. The Cowboys know they have a chance to make the playoffs because of how beat up the Eagles are, and the craziness that has happened in the NFC East all season long. Case Keenum will play decent, but won’t have enough help from his supporting cast to keep this one close.

Pick: Cowboys -11
