Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (2019)

The Patriots suffered their first loss of the season Sunday night in Baltimore, meaning that the San Francisco 49ers are the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. On the opposite end of the standings, the Dolphins knocked off the Jets, leaving Cincinnati as the only winless team. While the playoff picture is beginning to take shape, the race for the first pick is muddled, with the Jets, Redskins, Bengals, and Dolphins all vying for the spot. Each of those teams will face at least one other in that group before the end of the season.

32) Cincinnati Bengals (Prev: 31)
With the Dolphins’ victory, the Bengals are the only team in the NFL without a victory. This week they get a home game against the Ravens who just knocked off the Patriots in stunning fashion on Sunday Night Football.

31) New York Jets (Prev: 28)
The Jets have lost three straight games, this time falling to the Dolphins, who were previously considered historically bad. That win over the Cowboys three weeks ago feels like a lifetime ago. Four of their next five games are against the Giants, Dolphins, Bengals, and Redskins.

30) Miami Dolphins (Prev: 32)
The 2019 Miami Dolphins will not be the third team in NFL history to finish 0-16. Not only did the Dolphins win Sunday, but they also dominated the Jets and looked like the far superior team. The offense didn’t have a turnover in their victory, and Ryan Fitzpatrick finished with 288 yards and three touchdowns.

29) Washington Redskins (Prev: 30)
Dwayne Haskins started the first game of his career and looked much better than he has in relief efforts this season. He didn’t have a single turnover and threw for 144 yards. Washington was within one score for nearly the entire game, but the defense couldn’t stop running back Devin Singletary, who had 95 yards and two touchdowns.

28) Atlanta Falcons (Prev: 29)
The Falcons come off their bye and will have five straight games against division rivals, beginning this week at the Superdome against the Saints.

27) New York Giants (Prev: 27)
The Giants jumped out to a 12-3 lead, but then the Cowboys scored twice in the final minute of the first half to take a 13-12 lead that they never relinquished. The Giants struggled offensively for most of the game, recording just 271 yards to go along with three turnovers.

26) Arizona Cardinals (Prev: 26)
The Cardinals put a real scare into the 49ers this week. Andy Isabella had an 88-yard touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter, putting the Cardinals within three points. The defense was unable to make a stop to get the ball back to the offense, but the Cardinals are proving that they can play with most teams this season.

25) Cleveland Browns (Prev: 22)
The Browns continued their disappointing season, falling 24-19 to the Broncos, who were led by Brandon Allen in the first start of his career. The Browns’ offense had zero turnovers, which might be even more alarming when looking at the final score. This offense is just not what was expected before the season began.

24) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Prev: 25)
Should the Bucs have gone for two on the road in Seattle? They didn’t, electing to go for the tie, but they never saw the ball in overtime as Russell Wilson picked the defense apart. Jameis Winston had one of his best games of the season with 335 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Mike Evans had 12 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown.

23) Denver Broncos (Prev: 24)
Brandon Allen went 12-20 for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the first start of his NFL career. Six of Denver’s nine games this season have ended in one-possession scores. They are 2-4 in such contests.

22) Tennessee Titans (Prev: 21)
The Titans’ offense finished with 431 total yards and managed 20 points in their loss to the Panthers. Despite the yardage, Ryan Tannehill fell back to earth after some outstanding games, with 331 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. They host the Chiefs this week before their late-season bye.

21) Chicago Bears (Prev: 18)
The Bears fell behind 19-0 before sparking a mini-comeback to at least put some pressure on the Eagles, but never really threatened to retake the lead. That’s four straight losses, and the offense put up just 164 total yards. The defense struggled as well, giving up 373 yards, including 146 on the ground.

20) Jacksonville Jaguars (Prev: 16)
The Jags seemed like they had an advantage in traveling to London, but the offense struggled to put any points on the board, and they turned the ball over four times on the day. Jacksonville is now two games behind the Texans in the AFC South, but they have been swept by Houston this season.

19) Los Angeles Chargers (Prev: 23)
Melvin Gordon scored two touchdowns as the Chargers took it to the Packers from the start, winning in dominant fashion. They gave up just 184 total yards to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense. LA has won two straight and will head to Oakland for a huge divisional contest this Thursday night.

18) Detroit Lions (Prev: 14)
The Lions got to the one-yard line with seconds remaining, but the Raiders’ defense stymied their bid to tie the game and send it to overtime. Detroit has lost four of their last five games after starting 2-0-1. Matthew Stafford continued his stellar season, however, passing for 406 yards three touchdowns and one interception.

17) Oakland Raiders (Prev: 20)
Derek Carr had 289 yards and two touchdowns as the Raiders pulled off a victory in their first home game in nearly 50 days. The defense forced two huge turnovers and stopped the Lions on the goal line at the end of the game to secure the victory.

16) Carolina Panthers (Prev: 19)
Christian McCaffrey continued his MVP-caliber season Sunday, scoring three touchdowns and amassing 166 total yards.  He leads the league with 10 rushing touchdowns and is second in the league in rushing yards. Kyle Allen will start again this week, as Cam Newton has already been ruled out.

15) Pittsburgh Steelers (Prev: 17)
After starting 1-4, the Steelers have won three straight games to save their season and secure their place in the AFC Wild Card hunt. The defense continued its unbelievable play, forcing three Colts’ turnovers, including a 96-yard pick-six for Minkah Fitzpatrick.

14) Philadelphia Eagles (Prev: 15)
The Eagles dominated the Bears on both sides of the ball Sunday in a huge conference victory that put them back above .500 on the season. The defense allowed just 10 first downs, while the offense amassed 373 yards. This week they’re idle, then they host the Patriots in Week 11.

13) Buffalo Bills (Prev: 13)
The Bills are off to their best start since 1993 at 6-2 and their next three games are all against teams with records of .500 or below. Rookie Devin Singletary had 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns in his best game of the season.

12) Los Angeles Rams (Prev: 12)
The Rams were on a bye this week and watched both teams ahead of them in the NFC West, the 49ers and Seahawks, continue to win. They head to Pittsburgh this week to take on the Steelers who are winners of four of their last five.

11) Houston Texans (Prev: 11)
Carlos Hyde rushed for 160 of the Texans’ 217 rushing yards in Sunday’s dominant win in London. Houston finished with a +3 turnover differential, and the defense held the Jags to just three points. The Texans are now atop the AFC South.

10) Dallas Cowboys (Prev: 9)
It was a rocky start for the Cowboys on Monday night, but after falling behind 12-3, they stormed back for the 37-18 win. Dak Prescott had three touchdown passes to go along with 257 yards, while Ezekiel Elliott added 139 yards on the ground.

9) Indianapolis Colts (Prev: 6)
After being the hero last week, Adam Vinatieri missed a go-ahead field goal with just over a minute remaining to drop the Colts to 5-3. Jacoby Brissett went down with an injury early, and his status for this week is unknown. Brian Hoyer had 168 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in relief.

8) Green Bay Packers (Prev: 4)
Aaron Rodgers threw for a season-low 161 yards, and the Packers were outplayed on both sides of the ball by the Chargers in LA. The Packers had only 184 total yards and trailed by as many as 23 at one point during the game.

7) Minnesota Vikings (Prev: 5)
The Vikings missed a huge opportunity, falling in Kansas City to the Mahomes-less Chiefs. Kirk Cousins had 220 yards and three touchdowns, but he completed just 50% of his passes. Up next, they travel to Dallas for Sunday Night Football.

6) Seattle Seahawks (Prev: 10)
Russell Wilson continued to look like an MVP candidate, as he threw for 378 yards and five touchdowns while leading the Seahawks to an overtime victory over the Buccaneers. Tyler Lockett had 13 catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns. The defense gave up 418 yards in the game, including a 10-play 75-yard game-tying drive that took just 3:39.

5) Baltimore Ravens (Prev: 8)
Lamar Jackson ran for two touchdowns and added another through the air as the Ravens became the first team to knock off the Patriots in 2019. The offense put up 30 points on the New England defense that came into the game ranked number one in the league. Marlon Humphrey added a 70-yard fumble recovery touchdown in the win. That’s four straight wins with a matchup against Cincinnati looming.

4) Kansas City Chiefs (Prev: 7)
Even without Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs were able to pull out a victory over the red-hot Minnesota Vikings. It was only their second win at Arrowhead this season, and it ended a three-game home losing streak. Things are looking up for Kansas City because Mahomes should be ready to make his return this week.

3) New England Patriots (Prev: 1)
It was the Patriots’ first real test of the season, and it went just about as bad as it could have gone. They quickly fell behind 17-0, and they had their comeback bid halted when Julian Edelman fumbled on the first drive of the second half, resulting in a Marlon Humphrey scoop and score. The offense had some moments where they looked great, but they struggled greatly in the fourth quarter as they let the Ravens pull away. Next up is a bye, followed by a much tougher back half schedule.

2) San Francisco 49ers (Prev: 3)
The 49ers showed some blemishes this week but held onto their early 14-point lead to secure a three-point divisional road victory. Jimmy Garoppolo had 317 yards and four touchdowns as he led the offense to a turnover-free game. The defense, which has been great all season, didn’t force any turnovers and gave up an 88-yard touchdown in the win.

1) New Orleans Saints (Prev: 2)
The Saints were off this week, but with the loss by the Patriots, I’m moving them into the number one spot. Their only loss was to the Rams in a game where they lost Drew Brees early on. Since then they’ve been fantastic and will enter the second half of their season with a game against the lowly Atlanta Falcons this weekend.
