WNBA Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (5/23)

Welcome to the WNBA season. I’ll be writing best bets for the day as the season progresses so make sure to follow. I’ll be keeping track of my results all year but really I am simply excited there is another sport to bet on. There is a lot to be excited about this year. I will be betting one unit on all bets and be sure to shop around for your best odds.

Tuesday’s WNBA Best Bets

Connecticut Sun at Washington Mystics

I know it’s one of the less exciting bets to make today but in the early goings of the season, I usually keep it simple as data roles in before early trends and data rolls in.

The Mystics dominated in their season tip-off with an 80-64 win over New York which is especially promising considering Breanna Stewart was held to just 12 points, going 0-for-5 from beyond the arc.

This is a team that facilitates well and has plenty of options to go to, with four double-digit scorers in that game. Their defense seems to be trusted in the early stages and they competed well with the Sun last time out. Now, playing at home, I fully expect them to improve on their 21 percent shooting from deep and take down a victory. Connecticut is good though so this final should end right around the spread, so I’m keeping it safe and simple and throwing one unit on the moneyline.

Bet: Mystics Moneyline (-200)

Atlanta Dream at Minnesota Lynx

Okay, so I won’t keep it too chalky. One of these teams has Rhyne Howard on it and that is the team I am going to take here. 

Both squads began the season with some not-so-promising losses. Atlanta at Dallas, 85-78, and the Lynx at home to Chicago in a double-digit defeat. This is more so a bet fading Minnesota than betting on Atlanta but Kaleah Copper absolutely dominated in the season opener so I can’t exactly trust Minnesota’s defense to show up right now.

 Do you know who else dominated their first game? Rhyne Howard. With 20 points and 10 boards to go with her impressive performance, she might simply walk all over Minnesota tonight, leading Atlanta to a victory.
