Thursday's Best WNBA First Basket Scorer Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Rhyne Howard (+600)

This is it for the Atlanta Dream, and the most elite scoring option on the team will have to produce. It's highly possible this starts from the very first possession. Should Atlanta win the the tip-off, they are going to want to start off strong in a series where points are hard to come by.

Rhyne Howard led the Dream with eight first baskets scored on the season, tied for second in the WNBA. With Allisha Gray dealing with a finger injury that appears to be limiting her scoring, Howard is going to be looked upon to set the tone for the Atlanta offense.

Angel Reese (+550)

We move on to what is our favorite candidate to score the first basket for the Dream in this contest. The last two contests have gone horrendously for Angel Reese, and there's a good chance that changes this afternoon (or morning) . Reese has scored a total of four field-goals across the last two games.

Despite the recent woes, Angel Reese has scored the first basket in two out of five games through the series. Reese finished with 51 points over Games 2 & 3. If that version of Reese shows up, the +550 profit will be a fantastic way to start the day. The forward for Atlanta needs to lock in if she wants to stave off elimination. We feel she does so, and it begins with the first field-goal of the game.

Gabby Williams (+500)

Gabby Williams is the favorite to score the first basket based on odds. Williams is the most productive scoring option on the season. So, it stands to reason that the veteran guard would be at the the top of this prop. Golden State could have every intention to be looking to get the ball in the hands of their top scoring option in such an important game.

Williams is coming off her lowest scoring performance of the Finals. The forward for Golden State scored nine points on 3-of-14 shooting, and 0-of-4 from beyond the arc. Williams will no doubt be focused on bouncing back after such a poor shooting night.

Tiffany Hayes (+650)

We close out our selections with our favorite choice on the Golden State Valkyries. Gabby Williams may be the team leader in regular season scoring. However, Tiffany Hayes has been the driving force for the Valkyries in the WNBA Finals. Hayes is averaging 13.25 through the last four games of the series after only scoring three in Game 1.

Hayes is by far the most aggressive player on Golden State in regards to scoring. The guard for the Valkyries put up at least 10 attempts every contest in this series before Game 5 (9).

Points have been extremely difficult to come by in this series. We are going to side with one of the more aggressive options to score the initial basket in this contest.
