It's Tuesday in the W and the the 2026 WNBA Playoffs finally got underway this weekend. As always, I'm breaking down the top WNBA First Basket Scorer picks.

Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever
Stephanie Talbot averaged just 4.0 points per game this season, but somehow managed to score four First Baskets in 45 starts this season. In fact, two of those First Baskets have come in the final four games of the regular season. Although she didn’t score first in Game 1, she did take the Aces’ first shot. A return of 15x on someone who has recently cashed this prop twice and gets the opportunities she does. It is the product of starting for such a machine like the Aces and playing with a generational talent like A’ja Wilson, whose gravity attracts the betting eyes and creates extreme values like Steph T.
Sure, you can go the easy route and tail A’ja; she did cash the First Basket in the final regular season game and finish with eight First Baskets this season. However, it’s more fun (and lucrative) to fleece Vegas with Talbot’s value.

Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty
Jonquel Jones averaged 14.5 points during the regular season and chipped in eight points and two three pointers in Sunday’s Game 1 victory in Minnesota. For what it’s worth, Jones has drained at least one shot from deep in eight straight, and 13 of her last 15, but I digress.
Jones racked up six First Baskets in 44 starts this season, cashing at a 13.6% clip. New York won the opening tip 57.8% of the time and Jones took the first shot 11.4% of the time.
Courtney Williams averaged 13.8 points this season and scored the First Basket five times this season. Williams scored the First Basket twice in Minnesota’s last five games, including Game 1 of this series. Napheesa Collier corralled the opening tip, but both teams had shots at scoring first before Courtney knocked down an 18-footer to open the scoring on Sunday. New York would go on to outscore Minnesota 91-73 after that, but the vet gave the Target Center faithful a good cheer before the Lib controlled the entire contest.
Either of these ladies is fully capable of providing some stability to an otherwise volatile prop at value.
