WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (6/20)

The 2024 WNBA is in full swing and I will be here breaking down the top picks on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays this season. Join me as we build our bankrolls this summer!

Hopefully you were like me and took the double-gift in Wednesday’s late game that offered Ezi Magbegor’s Points (13.5/+110) and Rebounds (9.5/+100) lines, both individually at plus odds! Despite only four points at halftime, the Aussie finished the game with 19 points and 13 rebounds to easily cash both bets.

Here are my top WNBA picks for Thursday, June 20 in this two-game slate.

Season Record: 17-18

Thursday’s Best WNBA Picks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Los Angeles Sparks (+800) at New York Liberty (-15) | O/U 165.5 (-110/-110)

Jonquel Jones’ scoring line is being set too low once again. It is up from 15.5 points to 16.5, but even that number at -115 is insane. The former MVP is coming off a career-high 34 points two games ago against the Aces in Las Vegas, the city that continues to undervalue the George Washington University Hall of Famer. Jones is 6-3 against this number in her last nine games and has gone for 17+ on seven occasions this season. One more trend in Jones’ scoring favor is her increased propensity to shoot from deep of late. After making 13 three-pointers in her first ten games, Jones has erupted for 16 three-pointers in her last five contests. During her current 5-game heater, JJ is 16-for-28 (57.1%) from deep and 42-of-65 (64.6%) from the field.

Jones’ scoring takes care of the bulk of the heavy lifting of our next, corresponding prop which is set at 27.5 today. JJ averages 16.8 points, 8,5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists which equals 28.3 PRA meaning if Jones has an average night for herself against a frontcourt that just lost 6 feet-four inches of defense in Cameron Brink (ACL) then she will easily hit this number. Jones’ biggest obstacle tonight might be an early blowout by the Liberty but without the services of Courtney Vandersloot (personal reasons) and Nyara Sabally (back), New York doesn’t exactly have the luxury of bodies to enable Sandy Brondello to rest her stars, including Jonquel Jones.

For context, Jones’ teammate Breanna Jones averages 32.0 PRA but her line was set at 33.5 which feels much scarier seeing as how Jones’ line is set below her average. Perhaps it’s the “household name” factor, but Stewie is 6-9 against this number this season while Jones is 10-5 against her respective number, including seven of her last nine games.

Additionally, the BettingPros WNBA Projection Model has Jones predicted to score 17+ points and total a 29+ PRA. While Vegas continues to sleep on JJ, take advantage of the relatively low lines.

WNBA Picks: Jonquel Jones Over 16.5 Points (-115) & Jonquel Jones Over 27.5 Points+Assists+Rebounds (-120)
