Atlanta Dream vs. Indiana Fever
Indiana is averaging 98 points per game at home, but they'll be facing one of the best road defenses in the league tonight. Atlanta has held opponents to fewer than 80 points per game on the road. They held the Fever to 83 points in Indianapolis on June 4th.
The question mark when it comes to his market is Indiana’s defense, or what passes as defense for the Fever. Indiana has allowed almost 90 points per game at home this season. Atlanta has the fifth-best offense and scores 84 points per game on the road. But the Fever held them to 71 in the first matchup. I'm not confident they'll take advantage of Indiana’s defense tonight.
I might be putting too much faith in Atlanta's defense in road games, but they kept the Fever’s offense from going off the last time they were in town. Yes, Indiana has scored 89+ points in every other home game, but none of the other defenses come close to matching up with Atlanta. It may be a close call, but in the end, don't count on Indiana scoring over 86.5 points in this game.
Indiana's defense is still questionable on its best days, but around this time of year, it has been when they start to get things figured out in the past. Teams have averaged 87 points per game against them during their four-game winning streak, but the Fever now have the league’s ninth-best defense, allowing 86.7 points per game on the season
Indiana has held three of their last six opponents to fewer than 80 points. While they lost to the Liberty, they still held one of the best offenses in the league to just 83 points. Now, the 106 and 91 points Chicago and Toronto scored in Indiana's last two home games are a concern. But we've seen Indiana’s defense step up against the Dream at home once already this season.
That defense will come through for the team once again.
Picks: Under 173.5 Points (-114), Fever Team Total Under 86.5 Points (-106) & Dream Team Total Under 87.5 Points (-122)
