Thursday nights are often fun because the weekend is almost here, making it easy to get excited. But you can make that "fun" a little more exciting by tailing our WNBA picks. Note that the Mystics-Wings game has been postponed and rescheduled for Monday due to mechanical issues with the Liberty’s charter flight. So, we just have one game to bet on today: Portland versus Washington.

Portland Fire vs. Washington Mystics
Washington has really been dialed in over its last four games since beating Portland in an epic four-overtime contest on June 28th. Their defense has led the way, holding teams to fewer than 80 points in all four games. However, their offense has been good enough to get the win in three of those games, but could not handle an excellent Golden State defense.
Portland's defense is nowhere near the caliber of the Valkyries’ defensive unit. But there is nothing about Washington’s offense to suggest they can take advantage of the Fire’s defense. Portland's offense has been solid the last few games (averaging a league-leading 93.8 points per game).
Hopefully, Washington's defense has learned from that four-overtime loss and will clamp down harder on the Fire’s offense today, not letting things get out of hand. I'm not confident they'll score enough to cover the spread, but they will hold the Fire to fewer than 79 points.
