Saturday’s Best Bets and Predictions
Last Time: 2-0 | Season: 16-13
Las Vegas Aces vs. Minnesota Lynx
To highlight the day we have the Las Vegas Aces facing off against the Minnesota Lynx. Minnesota sits around a 5.5-point favorite with a total of 183.5 points. The two best teams are going toe-to-toe, so get the popcorn ready.
With Napheesa Collier back in the fold, it's hard to doubt this Lynx squad. She's only played five games but has averaged nearly 19 points per night and finished with more than eight boards in three of those five games. In that same time frame, the Lynx have ranked as the third overall team both offensively and defensively.
The issue is that this is the best version of the Aces going right now. In that same time frame, the Aces have been the best defense in the league, going 5-2 in their last seven games with those two losses each coming by a single point. Minnesota gets the homecourt advantage but even on the road this year the Aces’ offensive efficiency actually jumps from third to second.
This should be a battle that we might see again deep into the playoffs. The first matchup between these two became an instant classic and that might be the same case again tonight. But with how each squad is playing, I expect this to come down close to the final possession and will take the value of the Aces as underdogs.
Pick: Aces +5.5 (-110 at FanDuel)
Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky
Next up we travel to Chicago where the Sky host Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Chicago has stepped up defensively recently, ranking as the fourth best defensive unit in the last five games and sixth best in their last 10 games.
But Indiana is still deadly, they are finally getting healthy and rep the single best offense in the league. Even if you go by their last five games, or on the road, they still play out as elite. Last time out, even going into OT, Indiana scored 114 points.
These are also the two fastest paced teams in the season. And I'll spoil it a bit but I expect the Indiana offense to go off again tonight. Not only are they efficient already but they rank out as the third best offensive rebounding team in the league. Going against the Sky that ranks dead last in rebounding rate this year, there will be plenty of second-chance opportunities and quick defensive possessions because of no second-chance looks for Chicago. It may seem high, but I'm riding the Fever offense here.
Pick: Fever Over 97.5 points (-115 at theScore)
