Thursday’s Best WNBA Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Atlanta Dream vs. Washington Mystics

The Dream have been living a nightmare the last three games, first struggling on both ends of the court against a good Golden State team, losing 77-66 and 78-75 in back-to-back games. Then they struggled even worse against a poor Seattle team, losing 105-90. Washington hasn't been great, but they are coming off a 124-123 win in quadruple overtime versus Portland.

This could be the game where Atlanta gets things back on track and starts playing good basketball again. But I'm not willing to bet on that. At the same time, I don't have any confidence in the Mystics to pull through and win. Rather, I think we'll see a relatively low-scoring game between a mediocre Washington team and an Atlanta squad struggling to get right.

Pick: Under 166.5 Points (-115)

Dallas Wings vs. Connecticut Sun

This should be an easy game to predict. Dallas has been one of the better teams in the league this season, while the Sun have struggled mightily for much of it. But Dallas has fallen back a bit in the last few games, barely beating teams they should crush (Chicago, Seattle) and losing to challenging opponents (Minnesota, Las Vegas, Golden State).

But it is hard to find a reason to believe Connecticut can or will take advantage of the Wings’ recent struggles. Yes, they are fresh off a pair of nice wins (68-57 vs. Washington and 92-63 vs. Chicago).

Prior to that, they lost seven in a row and nine out of 10. No, this will turn into a "get right" game for Dallas as they work some kinks out on both sides of the ball against a team still fighting for an identity on both ends of the court.

Pick: Dallas -7.5 (-112)

Seattle Storm vs. Phoenix Mercury

This is a winnable game for either team, which, of course, makes it more challenging to bet on. There is no value in the Phoenix Moneyline, but can we trust a 5-15 Seattle team with one road win this season to pull off an upset?

Maybe. It's not like the Mercury have played well at home (2-6). However, we have two teams here that have won their last two games. The Mercury averaged 100 points in those two wins, while the Storm averaged 102. Phoenix allowed 94.5 points per game in the two-game stretch, and Seattle allowed 89 points per game.

To sum it up, lots of offense and not much defense. Sounds like a great matchup to take the over.

Pick: Over 167.5 Points (-105)
