Tuesday’s Best WNBA Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Las Vegas Aces (-300) at Los Angeles Sparks (+240) | O/U 176.5 (-110/-110)

The Aces (5-3) and Sparks (4-4) meet for the third time this season. The Aces picked up a 105-78 victory as 1.5-point favorites in Los Angeles on May 10th, while the Sparks earned a 101-95 victory as a 9.5-point underdog, as the over (181.5) cashed on May 23rd at Mandalay Bay.

The win and cover by the Sparks snapped a 3-0 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) run, while Las Vegas is still 5-2 SU in the past seven meetings and 4-2-1 ATS in the span. The over has connected in four straight meetings, while going 5-1 in the past six in the series and 8-2 across the previous 10 installments.

Las Vegas picked up a 91-81 victory as a 1.5-point favorite at Golden State on May 31st, with the over (167.5) connecting, squashing a two-game losing skid and 0-4 ATS slide. The over has connected in three straight meetings.

Los Angeles is coming off an 84-81 loss at Connecticut as a 3.5-point underdog, ruining the chance of a perfect four-game win streak and cover road trip. The under on May 30th in Connecticut snapped a five-game over run.

For the Aces, Chennedy Carter (leg) and Jewell Loyd (leg) are questionable. Dana Evans (leg) is also ruled out. For the Sparks, Kelsey Plum (ankle) will miss the rematch with her former team due to a right ankle injury suffered last week.

With Plum sidelined, the chances for the Sparks are out the window. Let’s take the Aces to get the job done by at least four buckets, and we’ll go high on the total, too. The over has cashed frequently in this series.

Picks: Aces -7.5 (-110) & Over 176.5 Points (-110)

Portland Fire (+280) at Golden State Valkyries (-350) | O/U 163.5 (-115/-105)

The Fire (6-4) and Valkyries (5-3) meet at Chase Center in San Francisco. The expansion Fire have won two of their three road games, while the Valkyries, an expansion team last season, have posted a 3-2 record at home.

This is the first meeting between these organizations. Portland is coming off its most prolific offensive production in team history, racking up a 100-84 win as an 11.5-point underdog against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever last time out on May 30th, as the over (173.5) cashed.

That over snapped a three-game under run. The under is still 5-2 in the past seven outings. Portland is 4-1 SU/ATS in the past five games, too, including an impressive 81-74 win as a 10.5-point underdog in New York in the most recent road outing. Portland has won and covered two games as an underdog, while the under is 2-1 in three road contests.

The Valkyries suffered a 91-81 loss to the Aces as a 1.5-point underdog, as the over (167.5) cashed. That snapped a modest two-game win streak, although Golden State is still 1-3 ATS in the past four outings. The over has cashed in each of those four contests.

Golden State is No. 1 in three-point shooting rate (38%), which is stunning considering the team has a 40.2% overall field-goal rate, which ranks 15th in the WNBA. The Valkyries are No. 1 in scoring defense, allowing just 78 points per game (PPG).

Portland has struggled to score, averaging 83.6 PPG (11th) while shooting 45.7% from the field (fourth). Defensively, the Fire is so-so, allowing 85.1 PPG (seventh), while allowing teams to shoot just 31.2% (fifth) from behind the three-point line.

Let’s go under on the total, and we’ll back the Fire to keep it somewhat close, especially if Veronica Burton (quadriceps) cannot go for Golden State. She is listed as questionable.

Picks: Fire +8.5 (-105) & Under 163.5 Points (-105)
