WNBA Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (6/4)

The WNBA season rolls on tonight, starting with the Indiana Fever hosting the Atlanta Dream, followed by the Golden State Valkyries taking on the Minnesota Lynx. Both games are expected to be competitive, and we've got your best WNBA picks for each.

Will it be Atlanta's defense or the Indiana offense that comes out on top? Between Golden State and Minnesota, we have two of the top three-rated defenses in the league. But who will have enough offense to win? I try to answer both questions.

Atlanta Dream vs. Indiana Fever

The tough part about predicting this game is not knowing what we will get from Caitlin Clark (or whether she'll even play). Right now, she is listed on the injury report as probable. But we have to wonder if she is ready to go and play to the best of her ability, or healthy enough to play, but not at her "A" game.

Either way, Indiana is facing the No. 2-ranked defense in the league. While the Fever have the highest-scoring offense (91.8 points per game), they are only the seventh-best-rated unit (108.6), and they don't play good defense. But because it's a home game, we should see a good game from the Fever.

However, from what we have seen from both squads, I have to lean towards Atlanta winning outright in this one. The game could easily go either way, but at +102 odds, the Dream Moneyline is a solid value play.

Pick: Dream Moneyline (+102)

Golden State Valkyries vs. Minnesota Lynx

My first thought was to go with the under for this game because it features two of the league’s best defenses. They are two of the top three in terms of points allowed, with Minnesota giving up 78.9 points per game (first) and Golden State allowing 79.3 points per game (third).

But then I took a good, hard look at each team’s offense. Minnesota has been the second-most productive in the league, averaging 90.9 points per game; that number bumps up slightly at home to 91.3.

Golden State lives and dies by the three and averages 86.6 points per game. I'm not too confident they'll be able to match that number on the road against the Lynx’s defense. Minnesota, on the other hand, has been great at home.

While the Valkyries will put up a fight against the Lynx, they will not have enough offense to compete and/or win. Take Minnesota and lay the points.

Pick: Lynx -2.5 (-120)
