WNBA Player Props & Bets: Friday (8/1)
There are five WNBA games tonight, but only the contest between the Phoenix Mercury and Atlanta Dream features two teams with winning records. How will Alyssa Thomas perform in that game? Will Marine Johannes have success from beyond the three-point line when her New York Liberty battle the lowly Connecticut Sun? And what should we expect from Gabby Williams when her Seattle Storm hosts the Los Angeles Sparks? Here are the best WNBA player props and bets for Friday, August 1.

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Alyssa Thomas Under 8.5 Rebounds (-102)
Thomas is in the midst of an incredible four-game run, which began on July 23 against the same Dream team that she is going to face tonight. She has pulled down at least 11 rebounds in her last four games, and she just grabbed 15 against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday, tying a season-high.
However, Thomas is only averaging 8.3 rebounds per game this season. While she has already proven that she can dominate the boards against the Dream, it's hard to overlook just how good the Dream are at rebounding. This season, they're allowing the fewest rebounds per game, while as a team, they're tied for the second-most per game, just 0.1 behind the WNBA-leading Dallas Wings. The temptation is to back Thomas to continue to rebound efficiently, but this is a bad matchup, and the price is great for the Under thanks to her recent performances.
Marine Johannes 3+ Made Three-Pointers (+220)
The Liberty and Sun have only played each other once this season. In that game, the Liberty won by 52 and made 19 three-pointers. Considering how bad the Sun have consistently been this season, there is no reason to expect a different storyline tonight. Therefore, the only real question is, which player should you make to shoot well from behind the arc tonight?
The price for Johannes to make two three-pointers is -148. However, this price becomes much more enticing when you bet her to make at least three, as FanDuel is currently offering the prop at +220. She's coming off a solid three-point shooting night against the Minnesota Lynx, where she went 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. While she has only made more than two threes in one other game this month, she's still averaging 1.7 made three-pointers this season, and she has six performances with three or more three-pointers. Normally, I'd stay away from Johannes, but in this matchup for this price, the value is undeniable.
Gabby Williams Over 4.5 Assists (-102)
Williams enters tonight's game with just three assists in her last two games. However, since the All-Star break, she has at least seven assists in two of her four games, as she has seen her average climb to 4.4 per game.
When it comes to assisting, Williams has been overshadowed by Skylar Diggins, who leads the team with 5.5 assists per game. But Williams has 13 games with at least five assists this season. When the Storm faced the Sparks earlier this season, she dished out seven assists in 29 minutes. She's coming off two rough performances, which is great for bettors. If she had recorded four or more assists in her two games leading up to this one, the price for this Over would be much more unfavorable. But because she's in a slump, we're getting a steal in a really good matchup.
