WNBA Player Props & Bets: Friday (8/29)

There are only two WNBA games tonight. The first game features the Atlanta Dream hosting the Dallas Wings. What should we expect from Paige Bueckers and Allisha Gray in that contest? In the second game, the Los Angeles Sparks are small favorites over the Indiana Fever. Will Kelsey Plum break out of her recent assisting funk and excel against a team she recorded 11 assists against earlier this season?

Paige Bueckers Under 17.5 Points (-106)

Paige Bueckers missed Wednesday's game with an illness, but she looks poised to play tonight. If she does, she'll be taking on a team that she scored 21 points against the last time she played them. However, I'm going with her under in this contest, as she scored 12 or fewer points in her previous two meetings with the Dream

On August 20th, Bueckers scored 44 points. In her two games since, she's scored 11 or fewer both times. Even before her 44-point game, she wasn't shooting very well. She has scored 17 points or fewer in four of her last seven, and in one of the games where she would have hit this over, she scored only 18. The Dream allows the second-fewest points per game in the league. Look for Bueckers to struggle as she comes back from her illness.

Allisha Gray Over 3.5 Assists (+114)

Allisha Gray is averaging 3.6 assists per game this season, but she's been in a funk recently. She has dished out just two assists in each of her last four games. In August, she recorded two or fewer rebounds in seven of her 11 contests.

All that said, Gray has had a lot of success against the Wings this season. She has at least six assists in two of her three games against them, including seven the last time she faced them on July 30th. Additionally, while Gray hasn't been great at finding teammates this month, she does have at least four assists in four of her last 10 games. Gray's inability to record many assists in the build-up to this game has really inflated this price. Don't worry too much about what she's done lately. Instead, worry about what she's done against the Wings. Take this over at a great price.

Kelsey Plum Over 5.5 Assists (+104)

Kelsey Plum is another player struggling to record assists in her last few games. She had just four in her last game, and in the contest before that one, she recorded just one. In fact, she has five or fewer assists in six of her last eight games. And yet, as is the case with Gray, it feels like too much emphasis is being put on what she has done lately and not on what she has done against the team she's about to face.

The last time Plum played the Fever, she dished out 11 assists. And while that performance may seem like an outlier, she also recorded six assists against the Fever earlier this season, meaning she's hit this over in two of her three games against Indiana this year. Additionally, Plum is averaging 5.9 assists per game, despite her recent struggles. The Fever are allowing the fourth-fewest assists per game this season, but for this price, there's not much of a risk in taking Plum to succeed.
