Last time: 2-0 | Season: 17-10
Gabby Williams Over 12.5 Points (-115 at Fanatics Sportsbook)
There's only one game tonight, but it's a big one as the Valkyries work towards clinching playoff contention while the Dallas Wings try to move up from their eighth-place ranking. The Valkyries are around 6-point favorites with the total around 162.5 points.
On the surface, Dallas has taken a step back lately, going 3-7 in their last 10 games, despite having the 13th-ranked defense. Golden State has ripped off five straight wins, including a 94-76 drubbing of the Wings in Dallas a week and a half ago. In that game, Gabby Williams had 19 points, and I expect her to have a similar experience tonight.
It's hard to find a team with bigger splits between home and away. In Texas, the Wings are 10-6 with the third-ranked defense. On the road, they are still above .500, but that defense drops to 14th overall. Whatever it is about communication or home-court advantage for their opponents, it plays well for the Wings.
Yes, this will be a slower game, but I do expect the Valkyries to handle business, and Williams has covered this line in five of her last eight games and eight of her last 14 games. They're coming off rest, need to clinch a playoff spot and get a big home-court boost. If you want to combine this with Veronica Burton’s assists and the Valkyries covering spread for a juicy same-game parlay, I fully support that.
Alanna Smith Under 19.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds (-110 at Hard Rock Bet)
On the other side of the ball, I simply expect the Wings’ play to be stifled by Golden State. The Valkyries have the league’s most dominant defense and play at the slowest pace by a significant margin.
The difference between them and the second-slowest team, the Las Vegas Aces, is the difference between the Aces and the fourth-fastest team, Atlanta. Generally, I'm in on unders because opportunities will be limited with what Dallas has been accustomed to this year.
Allana Smith's prop simply seems to be the most inflated. This is a line she hasn't covered in five of her last seven games. The BettingPros Prop Bet Cheat Sheet projects this closer to 17, and I follow the cheat sheet religiously. If you don't have it as part of your betting tools, you're missing out.
