Portland Fire (+520) at Atlanta Dream (-800) | O/U 173.5 (-110/-110)
- Leg 1: Fire +13.5 (-114)
- Leg 2: Under 173.5 Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Angel Reese to Record a Double-Double (-230)
- Leg 4: Emily Engstler 4+ Rebounds (-450)
The Fire (9-13) and Dream (13-9) meet at Gateway Center Arena at College Park for the second of three meetings in the regular season. It’s also the Fire’s first trip to Atlanta.
These teams met on May 29th at Moda Center in Portland, with the Dream routing the Fire 86-66 as a 9.5-point favorite, as the under (163.5) cashed. Angel Reese registered 18 points with 12 rebounds, five assists and a block in the victory, while four Dream players were good for at least 13 points. Rhyne Howard hit four three-pointers, finishing with 14 points, while Allisha Gray was good for three triples and 13 points.
Sarah Ashlee Barker led the way for the Fire with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The Fire had a tough time, shooting 45% (25-of-56) from the field and only 33% (9-of-27) from behind the arc. Atlanta shot 44% (30-of-68) from the field, but it was +6 in rebounding, as you’d expect with Reese on their side. However, Portland also turned it over a whopping 28 times, to just 15 times for Atlanta. The Dream rolled up 16 steals, led by Howard with six and Naz Hillmon with five.
Atlanta has been on a slide, dropping five in a row from June 24th to July 4th. However, four of those losses were at home. It dropped the visiting Seattle Storm last time out, 89-78, but failed to cover as a 12.5-point favorite, slipping to 0-7 against the spread (ATS) over the past seven games. The under is 4-2 in the past six outings.
Portland suffered an 88-80 loss to Las Vegas on Thursday, but covered as a 9.5-point underdog. The under (175.5) cashed for the second straight game after a 5-0 over run. The Fire are 1-4 straight up (SU) in the past five games, but Portland has covered three in a row, while going 6-2 ATS in the past eight outings.
Let’s back the Fire catching the big points, and we’ll go under on the total, as Reese and company should be able to frustrate Portland.
For player props, we always try to take Reese to hit a double-double. It’s nearly a certainty. She has managed three double-doubles in three July outings, averaging 16 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, while totaling 2.7 assists and two steals per game. She also has five double-doubles in the past six contests.
We’ll go for the layup and take Emily Engstler of Portland to grab at least four rebounds. She has hauled in four or more rebounds in six straight games, but she will have her hands full battling Reese on the glass. Engstler managed just two boards with four personal fouls in only 18 minutes in the first meeting with Atlanta, so be careful.

Phoenix Mercury (+350) at Las Vegas Aces (-480) | O/U 171.5 (-112/-108)
- Leg 1: Mercury +9.5 (-110)
- Leg 2: Under 171.5 Points (-108)
- Leg 3: Jackie Young Over 24.5 Points + Assists (-102)
The Mercury (8-15) and Aces (16-6) meet at Mandalay Bay for the third time in four regular-season meetings.
The road team has won each of the first two meetings and covered both games. Phoenix belted Las Vegas 99-66 in its first visit to Las Vegas as a 10.5-point underdog on May 9th, and the under has cashed in both meetings this season.
These teams met on June 17th, with the Aces topping the Mercury 86-76 as 6.5-point favorites, as the under (171.5) hit. A’ja Wilson had her way with the Mercury in that game, rolling up 33 points with 10 rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocks in 37 minutes, while three Aces players went for 20+ points. NaLyssa Smith scored 21 points, and Jackie Young chimed in with 20. In a losing effort, Kahleah Copper paced the Mercury with 26 points, while Jovana Nogic came off the bench to hit four three-pointers.
Las Vegas is coming off an 88-80 win at Portland, as Wilson returned to action after a brief absence due to a leg injury. She also added 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in the return, while Young had 19 points and 11 assists for the double-double, while dropping in three triples.
If you include the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship game, the Aces have split the past four games 2-2 SU, while going 1-3 ATS in the span. The under has cashed in two in a row and has a 6-4 edge in the previous 10 outings.
Phoenix has dropped its past two games and has also failed to cover. The under is 2-1 in the past three games and 7-3 in the past 10 road outings. The Mercury is 4-5 ATS in the past nine road games, too. However, we’ll stick with the big points and take the road team in this series until further notice. Let’s go with the under based on the series trends.
For player props, let’s keep it simple. With Wilson back, Young should be able to continue to fill up the stat sheet, and playing this three-leg SGP helps us nearly 8X our wager.
