Minnesota Lynx (+142) at Dallas Wings (-170) | O/U 178.5 (-110/-110)

The Lynx (1-1) play the Wings (1-1) in the early part of your Thursday night double dip.

Minnesota has split its first two games, but it is a perfect 2-0 against the spread (ATS). The Lynx coughed up a big lead in the home opener against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, and Minnesota could easily be 2-0 straight up (SU). The over has cashed in both outings to date.

Dallas outlasted Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the opener on Saturday in Indianapolis, cashing as 6.5-point underdogs, with the over (178.5) comfortably cashing. The Wings followed that up with a 77-72 loss in their home opener against Reese and the Dream, failing as a 1.5-point underdog, as the under (180.5) easily cashed.

Superstar Napheesa Collier (ankle) has been sidelined while recovering from surgery on both ankles in the offseason. She isn’t expected to begin on-court activities until at least June.

Kayla McBride (17 points per game), Olivia Miles (17 points per game), Courtney Williams (12.5 points per game) and Natasha Howard (10 points per game) are trying to fill the void and are doing a good job. Rookie Emma Cechova (11.5 points per game) has been a godsend, too, after playing professionally in Czechia previously.

For the Wings, Arike Ogunbowale has rolled up 21 points per game through the first two games. Budding superstar Paige Bueckers is averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 assists, 1.5 made three-pointers and 2.5 rebounds per game. Four Dallas players are averaging 12.5 points or more per game in the early going.

Minnesota swept last season’s series, went 3-1 ATS and the under cashed in the final three meetings. But Dallas is much better offensively this season, and the Lynx are playing without Collier. That’s a huge loss, and one that won’t be easily overcome. Let’s back the Wings, and we’ll go high on the total, as Minnesota has averaged 89 points per game, while allowing 87.5 points per game.

For props, we’re keeping it really simple during the early going until sample sizes become more dependable. Let’s focus on Bueckers. The Lynx are really struggling defensively in the early going without Collier, so Bueckers and friends should go for 90+.

Bueckers will be front and center, going for at least 20 points with a handful of rebounds and assists. It’s fun to play combos, and we’ll go for Bueckers to record at least 25 combined points + rebounds + assists. And let’s go with Ogunbowale to get to at least 18 points.

New York Liberty (-650) at Portland Fire (+470) | O/U 176.5 (-112/-108)

The Fire (1-1) stunned the Liberty (2-1) in Tuesday’s front end of a back-to-back set, and Portland got its first-ever WNBA victory in stunning fashion. The Fire were an 11.5-point underdog, but they won outright, as the over (174.5) cashed.

Portland is averaging 90.5 points per game through the first two games on offense, while allowing 97 points per game. Needless to say, the over has cashed in both games to date.

The Fire shot 50% (34-of-68) from the field, while knocking down 45% of its shots (15-of-33) from behind the three-point line. Portland was a perfect 15-of-15 from the free-throw line, too, while it was just -5 in rebounding against the bigger Liberty.

The key was Portland’s +4 turnover margin and +2 margin in the paint, which is stunning for an expansion team. The Liberty led 77% of the game; the Fire 12%. The Liberty blew a 13-point lead in Tuesday’s game. Don’t bank on that happening again.

The Liberty are certain to come out on fire in Thursday’s game, pun totally intended. Breanna Stewart had 16 points and 10 rebounds with three blocks, but shot 4-of-12, including 0-for-2 from long distance. Expect her to be much better.

Rookie Pauline Astier has been filling in for the injured Sabrina Ionescu (foot). Leonie Fiebich (overseas) and Satou Sabally (illness) are also sidelined. Astier has done a tremendous job, including scoring a season-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting in the first game against Portland. Rebekah Gardner scored a surprising 22 points off the bench in the losing effort.

It’s hard not to envision the Liberty going on an absolute tear in this game, perhaps getting to triple digits in the rematch. As such, we’ll lay the big points and go over the total.

For player props, we’ll keep it simple. Stewart hauled in 10 rebounds in the opener against Connecticut, nine at Washington on Sunday and 10 more in Tuesday’s loss to Portland. She’ll grab double-digit rebounds again.
