Tuesday’s Best Women’s College Basketball Bets

Here are our best bets for today’s Women’s College Basketball games.

American Athletic Conference Semifinal: Rice Owls (+120) vs. Temple Owls (-2.5)

    • Start Time: 7 p.m. ET
    • Coverage: ESPN+

The Rice Owls (16-16, 7-11) opened the AAC Tournament in the first round vs. UAB Blazers. Rice opened up an eight-point lead in the first half, 36-28. UAB got within a basket during the third quarter, but Rice never lost the lead.

In their quarterfinal game vs. UTSA, they took a four-point lead into the break (32-28) and stretched that lead out to nine points heading into the fourth quarter (49-40). The Roadrunners made a valiant push in the final quarter, getting as close as a point twice, but the Owls never lost their lead.

But now they face a Temple Owls team that crushed them 83-63 just a few short weeks ago. That win is part of a seven-game win streak for Temple that includes a dominant win over Charlotte in the quarter-finals, 65-34.

    Our Pick: Temple -2.5

On paper, this looks like it should be a tight, competitive game. But then how do you reconcile the beating Temple gave Rice a few weeks ago with how things appear on paper? Simple- you can't. I see no reason to think Rice has improved since then, while Temple seems to be playing even better.

Look for Temple to win by ten.

American Athletic Conference Semifinal: South Florida Bulls (-4.5) vs. North Texas Mean Green (+165)

    • Start Time: 9 p.m. ET
    • Coverage: ESPN+

South Florida (21-10, 13-4 ) had a solid regular season, but it didn't end well. Yes, the nine-game win streak since their last loss (vs. UAB 62-61 on Jan. 14) was a thing of beauty. But dropping their final two regular-season games was not (vs. Tulsa 66-58 and East Carolina 66-57.

North Texas, on the other hand, has been on a roll. Since dropping a pair of games to open February, they've been undefeated, a stretch of eight games, including their quarterfinal win over East Carolina.

They played twice during the regular season, with each team winning on its home court, North Texas 72-65 (Jan. 11) in Denton, TX, and South Florida 65-58 (Feb. 1) in Tampa. With Rice upsetting UTSA in the quarterfinals, the winner of this game will likely be the favorite to beat the winner of Rice/Temple for the conference tournament title.

Our Pick: North Texas +4.5 or ML

With two relatively even teams that won against the other by seven on their home court, I feel like I have to go with the hot hand. It will be a great game to watch, but North Texas has been playing much better than South Florida in recent weeks.

Take the points if you are skeptical or the moneyline if you are okay with a little more risk.

Mountain West Conference Semifinal: Fresno State Bulldogs (+750) vs. Wyoming Cowgirls (-12.5)

    • Start Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
    • Coverage: Fubo

Fresno State limped into the Mountain West Conference Tournament, losing their last four in a row and six of their final eight. They got by San Jose State in the first round, 67-62. Despite being 11.5-point underdogs, they beat Colorado State in the second round 54-52. Wyoming had an easier finish to the regular season, winning ten of their last 11, including a 77-64 victory over Air Force in the quarterfinals.

They faced Fresno State early in the season, on Jan. 4, and beat the Bulldogs 68-59.

    Our Pick: OVER 123.5

This is a tough one. It is hard to rationalize Fresno State winning, so the ML has no value. A 12.5-point spread is doable, but it feels a bit big. As for the total, they scored 127 back in January. This game will likely be a low-scoring one, but it feels more like 125-135 than under 123.5.
