Friday’s Best Women’s College Basketball Bets: California vs. Notre Dame

California vs. Notre Dame
It's been an interesting season for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish had been on cruise control since losing back-to-back games to TCU and Utah, winning 19 consecutive games. But then they hit a wall and dropped two in a row - a double-overtime game to NC State and a shootout with Florida State.
Just like that, they are the No. 6-ranked team in the nation and appear to be in trouble. That was until they stomped on No. 25-ranked Louisville in their regular season finale, 72-59.
They have one of the best players in the country in Hannah Hidalgo, a top-five offense (86.1 points per game), the highest three-point shooting percentage in the country (40.3%) and a solid defense (62.1 points per game allowed).
Cal (25-7, ACC: 12-6) is not a bad team, though. With a win over Virginia (75-58) Thursday night, the Golden Bears earned a date with Notre Dame today. They've won six of their last seven and the one loss was a three-point defeat on the road. They don't have the firepower Notre Dame has, but they've averaged 75 points per game this season while allowing 64.3 points per game.
However, Notre Dame crushed them during the regular season, 91-52.
The Fighting Irish took a tumble down the stretch; better now than when the NCAA Tournament gets underway. Notre Dame was a 19.5-point favorite in the regular season matchup and I'm a little surprised the spread isn't closer to that number. Cal's a decent team, but they aren't on the same level as Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish will easily cover this one.
