Iowa (21-9, Big Ten: 10-8) finished off the regular season with a dominant performance against Wisconsin (81-66) and earned a date with Michigan State (21-8, Big Ten: 11-7) in the second round with a more dominant performance in the first round of the Big Ten tournament vs. the Badgers (81-54).
The Hawkeyes are probably glad to have another shot at the Spartans after how they lost when these two met in December. Iowa had a 58-49 lead early in the fourth, but a 14-0 run put Michigan State ahead with roughly five minutes to go. Iowa got within a point but couldn't re-take the lead.
Iowa has played better basketball in recent weeks, winning nine of their last 11 games. They lost to No. 8-ranked Ohio State and No. 3-ranked UCLA but were competitive in both games. Michigan State kind of stumbled down the stretch, winning just four of their last nine (three losses to ranked teams). Iowa is playing better and has a little extra motivation from the loss in December. They'll come out ahead this time.
