2022 Tour de France Betting Guide, Odds & Predictions

Starting on Friday, just under 200 of the world’s best cyclists will descend on France, as the 109th edition of the Tour de France gets underway. Culminating on July 24th in Paris, the races go on through various stages over the next three weeks, as riders will try to dethrone the two-times in a row champion, Tadej Pogačar.

Traversing through the hills of France, Denmark, Belgium, and Switzerland, things will get started on Friday with a 13-mile time trial through Copenhagen, Denmark. To the surprise of few, the influx of sports betting here in the United States has created no shortage of ways to get in on the action, as prop markets are in abundance for this year’s Tour de France.

Will the Slovenian make it three in a row? Or will another cyclists out-duel him over the course of the next three weeks? Let’s take a closer look.

Tour de France Best Bets

Top 3 – Promoz Roglic (-125)
Holding the #1 position in the world rankings for nearly a year and a half just a couple of years ago, Roglic is one of the best riders in this field and if not for the dominance of Pogacar as of late, likely the favorite in this race. Now just over 30 years old, Roglic is having a great start to 2020, winning two major races (Nice and Critérium du Dauphinéz) in preparation of the Tour de France.

As far as his history in the biggest race of them all, Roglic has yet to win but does have a second-place finish at the Tour de France in 2020. Last year, Roglic crashed out early on, but his teammate Jumbo Visma finished in second place, making Roglic a likely podium finisher should he have stayed in.

While Pogacar is the worthy favorite, I think we see Roglic do well in the 2022 edition of the Tour de France.

Top 3 – Geraint Thomas (+350)
One of the remaining giants of the sport, Thomas is 36 years old coming into Friday but still is one of the best athletes in this race. Winner of the 2018 Tour de France, Thomas won a major race just earlier this month as he finished atop the Tour de Suisse despite being a heavy underdog.

With the experience to win this race in tow and clearly still in the tail end of his prime from a physical standpoint, Thomas will be the leader of his team once again I think an under-the-radar rider to finish very high in the 2022 Tour de France.
