2022 US Open: Iga Swiatek Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

Seven women have won the U.S. Open in the last eight years, as only Naomi Osaka has won multiple titles in that span. Thus, the women’s game has significantly evolved and provided much more parity than Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams combining for six U.S. Open titles in seven years from 2008-14.

Speaking of Serena Williams, she is tied for the 13th-best odds to win this year’s title, but the storyline and backdrop for the entire tournament will be that this is her last U.S. Open, as she announced her retirement following the Grand Slam.

This is the first annual BettingPros Guide to the U.S. Open, where we will highlight several of the top contenders from both the Men’s and Women’s Draws.

Will an eighth different woman in nine years add her name to the list of U.S. Open champions? Will Serena Williams write a storybook ending for arguably the best career ever in women’s tennis?

Read on for our thoughts and predictions for Iga Swiatek at the U.S. Open in 2022.

Iga Swiatek U.S. Open History

Swiatek is making her fourth U.S. Open appearance and improved her results in each of the first three years. In last year’s run to the fourth round as the No. 7 seed, Swiatek defeated Jaime Loeb in straight sets, needed three sets to beat Fiona Ferro and Anett Kontaveit, and lost to Belinda Bencic in straight sets.

Iga Swiatek Recent Form

Swiatek made waves earlier this year with a 37-match winning streak that ended at Wimbledon. Since then, she has lost three other times; the most shocking of which was an upset at the hands of No. 24 ranked Beatriz Haddad Maia in the Round of 16 in Toronto. Though Swiatek has lost just four times since February, the world No. 1’s aura of invincibility is gone entering the U.S. Open.

Iga Swiatek U.S. Open Predictions

Swiatek is far from the dominant player she was during her historic winning streak, and it is fair to wonder how much her confidence is shaken entering this tournament. With American Jessica Pegula playing the best tennis of her career and former Grand Slam winners Petra Kvitova and Garbine Muguruza in her own quarter, Swiatek is not even a lock to make the semifinals. Thus, if wagering on Swiatek, we would not advise backing her to do anything but win her quarter, as the odds are too short for her to reach the final (+250) or to win the title (+400).

The Pick: Swiatek to Win Her Quarter (+125 on DraftKings)
