2022 Wimbledon: Simona Halep Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction
On the Men’s side, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray have combined to win the previous ten Wimbledon titles. On the Women’s side, there has been much more parity, as Wimbledon has crowned a different champion each of the last five years. The closest thing to dominance in that span has been Serena Williams, who has won three titles and finished runner-up on two other occasions. However, there has been an overall dominant force on the WTA for the last several months, as Iga Swiatek has won 35 consecutive matches, tying Venus Williams’ mark for the longest consecutive match winning streak by a woman in this century.

The Women’s Draw received a big jolt with the inclusion of Serena Williams, who will play her first tournament in 12 months. However, there are also notable absences, such as Aryna Sabalenka, Daria Kasatkina, Victoria Azarenka, and Ekaterina Alexandrova, as Wimbledon has banned all players from Russia and Belarus due to the ongoing war in the Ukraine. And most-recently, Naomi Osaka announced she would miss Wimbledon because of an Achilles injury. However, she was also critical of Wimbledon feeling like an exhibition this year as the tournament temporarily did away with ranking points.

Simona Halep Wimbledon History
The last time Halep played at Wimbledon was in 2019 when she was crowned champion after cruising to seven straight victories. Halep dropped just one set in the whole tournament and beat the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina, and Serena Williams in straight sets. From the third round on, Halep lost more than three games in just one of her final ten sets. Halep has a career 24-8 record at Wimbledon, and her 75% winning percentage is the highest at any of the four Grand Slams. She withdrew from Wimbledon last year with a calf injury.
Simona Halep Recent Form
Halep received a bit of good fortune in her Round of 32 match at the Homburg Open, as she was down a set and a break down before Katerina Siniakova was hampered with an injury. Halep won eight of the next 12 games and then cruised to victory in her Round of 16 match against Tamara Zidansek. She was forced to withdraw from her semifinal match against Bianca Andreescu, but Halep has played much better on grass over the last two weeks than in her preparation for the French Open, which should be motivating heading into Wimbledon.
Simona Halep Wimbledon Predictions
The Pick: Simona Halep to Win Her Quarter (+450 on DraftKings), Karolina Muchova (+240 on DraftKings) to Beat Halep in the First Round
Of all the top female contenders at Wimbledon, No. 16 seed Halep drew arguably the toughest first-round opponent in Karolina Muchova, a two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist. However, the winner of that match has open sights ahead of them for the next couple of matches before the daunting task of either beating Paula Badosa, Karolina Pliskova, and/or Coco Gauff awaits.
Given the physical toll that getting out of this quarter may take, we are not backing Halep’s +1500 odds to win Wimbledon. Oddly, we see value in her +450 odds to win the quarter but will also hedge against that by backing Muchova’s +240 odds in their first-round match just in case of an upset.
