2022 Winter Olympics Best Bets: Curling
While a lot of people don’t understand the game, curling is one of the most competitive events in all of the Winter Olympics. The governing body for Curling in world competitions is the World Curling Federation. While there were some difficulties getting everything started, the athletes are here and ready to compete! There are medals for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed, and it is really anybody’s guess who will come out on top. With that being said, let’s break it down and see where the value lies for the Beijing Games!

Women’s
As I said prior, this really is a wide-open field all gunning for Gold in Women’s Curling. Sweden (+250) are the favorites, which is a right they have earned, as they are the top-rated duo in the world, per the WCF. I think Canada (+300) and Great Britain (+300) are overpriced for the way that they are plummeting in the rankings, as they are ranked fifth and eighth in the rankings. Despite this, they are treated near equal to the Swedish women, yet the Swedes have only been growing stronger, and they are getting jumped by other teams that have longer odds here. A sleeper for me is the Russia Olympic Committee (+1200), as they have jumped Canada in the rankings to take the fourth spot. I like this value as a semi-hedge of the dominant Swedish women, who should take Gold here.
Plays: Sweden for 2u at +250 (returns 5U) & ROC for .25u at +1200 (returns 6u)
Men’s
For the Men, there are three teams that are clear favorites and then the field. Those teams are Great Britain (+200), Canada (+225), and Sweden (+275). Switzerland (+800) stays underrated on this side too, as they have been climbing the Men’s rankings and are rated second in the World. I expect them to at least make the Final, and I think that they will have to take down Goliath in the form of Great Britian, and as a result, I will play them as a hedge, to try and have both of the teams in the Gold Medal Match.
Plays: Switzerland for 1.5u @ +800 (returns 4U) & Great Britain for 1.5U @ +200 (returns 3U)
Mixed Doubles
For Mixed Doubles, I expect Canada (+250) to repeat, and this is the one I will not be hedging. They won gold last year and while Great Britain (+300) looms in the back as a sleeper, the Canadian mixed doubles squad is far and wide better than the field in my opinion. With such a small field compared to most props like this in other sports, I am shocked they aren’t below +200.
