2022 Winter Olympics Best Bets: Snowboarding (Men’s Halfpipe)

Tonight is the night for the Men’s Snowboarding Snowboard Halfpipe Gold medal winner to be crowned, as the qualifiers are over and only 11 boarders remain. The story of course will be the final Olympic runs for Shaun White, who is retiring after this year’s games.

Let’s take a close look at a few riders I’m putting some money on for tonight’s event.

Scotty James | +250 at DK Sportsbook

Seemingly turning into White’s biggest rival, James has been hot on his tail the last few years, and there’s a reason he’s so highly favored in comparison tonight. A four-time Gold medalist in the SuperPipe at the X-Games, James has proven he can compete with the best in the world, and I expect to see just that tonight.

His best trick, the switchback double cork 1260, could very well be what puts him over the top tonight in Beijing.

Shaun White | +500 at DK Sportsbook

At 35 years old, White is participating in his fifth Olympic games, three of which he’s already claimed Gold in this very event. In the qualifier to even get to this final earlier in the week, White had largely been counted out before pulling off his patented Double McTwist 1260.

The trick and a few others were good enough for a score of 86.25, fourth place, and more importantly a spot in tonight’s final. With all the pressure now down to three more runs, there’s no one in this field who has proven to be able to handle it more than White.

Already teased this week, don’t be surprised if White has one final trick up his sleeve in the form of a triple cork.
