2024 Scottish Open Highlights:
- Rory McIlroy (+800): The defending champion, Rory McIlroy, is in excellent form and comes in as the betting favorite. McIlroy’s ability to navigate the wind and his impressive short game make him a formidable contender, especially on a course that demands creativity and finesse. His memorable two-iron shot into the wind last year, which led to a plaque on the course, is a testament to his prowess in challenging conditions.
- Xander Schauffele (+900): With a victory here in 2022 under harsh conditions, Xander Schauffele has proven his mettle on this links-style course. Schauffele’s consistent top-15 finishes in his last five events underscore his reliability and skill, making him a strong candidate if the weather turns tough.
- Viktor Hovland (+2200): Known for his excellent ball-striking, Viktor Hovland thrives when conditions are challenging. Despite some inconsistencies in his short game, Hovland's ability to adapt and his creative approach make him a standout, especially when the weather is unpredictable.
- Longshots: Among the longshots, Denny McCarthy stands out as a top contender. Ranked second in Bo’s model, McCarthy excels in approach play and putting, making him a formidable competitor at 9- to-1 odds. Another intriguing option is Kurt Kitayama at 110-to-1. With his ability to play well in windy conditions, reminiscent of his NorCal roots, Kitayama could thrive if the weather turns challenging. Additionally, Antoine Rozner, a crafty Frenchman known for his ball-striking and creative play, is an enticing pick at 400-to-1. His proficiency in bump-and-run shots could give him an edge on this unique links-style course.

What is Betting Against the Spread?
Betting "against the spread" refers to the act of choosing the winning team based on a numeric handicap placed on the team that oddsmakers believe is superior, rather than picking the outright winner. For example, if the Rams face the Bengals, and oddsmakers set the spread at Rams -3.5, you would need Los Angeles to win by 4 or more points in order to cash your Rams bet.
What is an Over/Under Bet?
Over/Under is a wager based on how many points you think will be scored in a specific game. Oddsmakers set the total, and bettors decide whether the final score will be higher or lower than that number. If an Over/Under is set at 44.5 points and you bet Over, you will need the combined score of both teams to be 45 points or higher to win your bet.
What is a Moneyline Bet?
A moneyline bet involves choosing which team you believe will win a specific matchup. The moneyline favorite carries a minus designation, like -130. This means that you need to wager $130 to earn a $100 profit. Conversely, the underdog carries a plus designation, like +110. This means that you win $110 in profit on a $100 bet.
