2025 French Open Picks & Predictions: Women’s Semifinals

One of the two 2025 Women’s French Open semifinals is exactly what we would have predicted, as World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka faces three-time defending French Open champions Iga Swiatek. It is a matchup worthy of being a Grand Slam final, but it may surprise some to know that this is just the second ever meeting between these two at a major, coming exactly 1,000 days after their first meeting at the 2022 US Open.

The other semifinal is a surprise matchup between No. 2 seed Jasmine Paolini and unseeded Lois Boisson, as the latter is on an unprecedented run in her first ever major.

Read on for 2025 French Open picks and predictions for the women’s semifinals.

2025 Women’s French Open Semifinal Picks & Predictions

(odds via FanDuel Sportsbook)

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Iga Swiatek Prediction

Oddsmakers have this as more-or-less a coin-flip match, with Sabalenka and Swiatek having -130 and +108 moneyline odds, respectively. That shows the level of respect that they have for Sabalenka on clay, especially since she has won 16 of her 18 clay-court matches this season to improve her 2025 record to 39-6 overall. Sabalenka overcame her last clay-court loss, a straight set defeat to Qinwen Zhen in Rome by exacting revenge in Tuesday’s 7-6, 6-3 victory in the rematch.

Swiatek holds an 8-4 head-to-head advantage over Sabalenka, including winning five of their six meetings on clay. But despite Swiatek entering having won 26 consecutive matches at Roland Garros while keeping her quest to become the first woman in the Open Era to win four consecutive French Opens alive, this should be no cakewalk.

Sabalenka is the world No. 1 for a reason, and has won more matches than any other woman on tour this season. Just two of her six clay-court matches with Swiatek have gone the distance over three sets. But two of their last three have, and Sabalenka is clearly more comfortable on the surface than ever before.

In a matchup that is too difficult to predict a winner of, I am happy to back the Over of 2.5 sets at plus-money odds.

Pick: Over 2.5 sets (+114 via FanDuel)

Lois Boisson vs. Coco Gauff Prediction

Lois Boisson is the 361st-ranked player in the world, but she earned every bit of her first major semifinal appearances after knocking off No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula and No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva in consecutive matches. Boisson’s story is incredible after coming back strong from an ACL tear last year, and never facing a top-50 player in her career before this tournament.

It would have been easy to dismiss Boisson’s chances the last two rounds, but a date with Coco Gauff, who is the youngest woman to accrue 25 main-draw wins at Roland Garros since 2000, is where her run ends.

Gauff improved to 4-0 in the French Open after losing the first set, and had enough calm and resolve to overcome 10 double faults in her three-set victory over Keys. Gauff was my top pre-tournament pick, and I expect her to play focused and emphasize the importance of getting off the court quickly, knowing that a tricky opponent in Sabalenka or Swiatek is waiting in the final.

Pick: Gauff to win in straight sets (-160 via FanDuel)
