  • Key Course Traits:

    • Long, narrow fairways

    • Tough par 4s (many over 500 yards)

    • Demanding long iron play

    • Bermuda greens - firm, fast if dry; softened by early-week rain

    • Water in play on final four holes

  • Skill Set Needed: Elite drivers, ball strikers, long iron players, strong scramblers

🏆 Recap of Last Week (Truist Championship)

  • Winner: Sepp Straka (beat Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas by 2 strokes)

  • Course reaction: Bo called the course "garbage" - too easy without wind and not challenging for a signature event.

  • Justin Thomas: Strong short game but awful from tee to green. Lost chance to win due to driving struggles.

?"? Favorites Breakdown

Player Odds Notes
Rory McIlroy +450 4x winner at Quail Hollow. Leads Tour in SG: Off the Tee. Great form (3 wins in 8 starts). Strong putting season.
Scottie Scheffler +400 Always dangerous, but course may not suit as well due to driving inconsistency and less reliable putting.
Bryson DeChambeau +950 Elite driver. Very hot in majors (1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th in last 4). Underrated short game.
Xander Schauffele +2000 Defending champ, 2nd place in last two Wells Fargo at Quail. Struggling putter, not a great fit if it’s a birdie-fest.
Ludvig Åberg +2200 Elite tee-to-green game. Weak short game (138th in field). Volatile-could win or miss cut.
Justin Thomas +2200 Won PGA at Quail in 2017. Terrible off the tee at Truist last week-risky despite great form otherwise.
Collin Morikawa +2200 Strong ball striker, but weak putting and scrambling. Recent form questionable.
Jon Rahm +1600 No LIV wins this year. Last 4 majors: 7th, MC, 45th, 15th. Doesn't inspire betting confidence.
Joaquin Niemann +3000 3 LIV wins this year, but zero top-20s in any major. Major fade for Bo.

What is Betting Against the Spread?

Betting "against the spread" refers to the act of choosing the winning team based on a numeric handicap placed on the team that oddsmakers believe is superior, rather than picking the outright winner. For example, if the Rams face the Bengals, and oddsmakers set the spread at Rams -3.5, you would need Los Angeles to win by 4 or more points in order to cash your Rams bet.

What is an Over/Under Bet?

Over/Under is a wager based on how many points you think will be scored in a specific game. Oddsmakers set the total, and bettors decide whether the final score will be higher or lower than that number. If an Over/Under is set at 44.5 points and you bet Over, you will need the combined score of both teams to be 45 points or higher to win your bet.

What is a Moneyline Bet?

A moneyline bet involves choosing which team you believe will win a specific matchup. The moneyline favorite carries a minus designation, like -130. This means that you need to wager $130 to earn a $100 profit. Conversely, the underdog carries a plus designation, like +110. This means that you win $110 in profit on a $100 bet.
